CHAKARAI PONGAL

 
 
 
Chakarai Pongal, Sweet Pongal

Ingredients:


Rice - 3 Cups
Moong Dhal - 1 Cup
Milk  - 2 Cups
Water - 6 cups
Powdered Jaggery - 2 Cups
Ghee - 50 ml
Cardamom Powder - 1/2 tsp
Cashew Nuts - 8 nos
Raisins - 10 nos
 
 

METHOD


  • Cook the rice and moong dal with water and milk.
  • Add jaggery in a cup of water and boil until it becomes thick.
  • Mix cooked dal and rice into jaggery mixture.
  • Keep stirring on low flame.
  • Add ghee and continue stirring.
  • Roast the raisins and cashews in ghee till they become golden brown.
  • Put cardamom powder and Garnish with fried raisins and cashews.
  • Serve hot.
