Ingredients:
Toor Dhal - 1 cup
Turmeric - a pinch
Asafoetida - 1/2 tsp
Garlic - 5 pods
Drumstick - 2 nos
Water - 3 cups
Madras Onion - 10 nos
Tomato - 1 no
Green chilli - 4 nos
Chili powder - 1 tsp
Salt - 1 tbsp
Oil - 2 tbsp
Mustard seed - 1/4 tsp
Urad dhal - 1/4 tsp
Sambar powder - 1 tsp
Tamarind - 1(small lime size)
Coriander - a handful |

METHOD
- Pour water in a pressure cooker.
- Add the toor dhal, turmeric, asafoetida, garlic and Cut each drumstick into two inch piece. Cook till the steam comes
- Bring it to low heat and cook for 10 minutes
- Cut onion, tomato and green chili into small pieces. Add chili powder and salt and pour them all into the cooker. Bring it to a boil
- Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan, add mustard seed, urad dhal and whole red chilies. Season till the mustard pops. Add them to the boiling sambar
- Add the Sambar powder and put the tamarind juice.
- Season it with leaves.
- Serve hot with white rice, dosa, idlli.
