Go bright and bold this summer

Go bright and bold this summer

Give your boring blue denims a miss this season and opt for something more quirky - bright coloured pants are doing the rounds. Here's how you can sport them elegantly

Bright and bold coloured pants are the flavour of this season. From colourful pallazo pants to slim fits, these colours can transform your look completely. They may seem intimidating to try at first, but can be quite flattering if styled well. Says designer Archana Kochhar, "Clothing brands are now breaking away from the standard black, navy blue and beige colours and opting for pink, green, red, yellow, turquoise, electric blue and purple from the '90s throwback trend this summer."

    What to pair them with

Pairing colourful pants with the right tops and accessories can be tricky. This is how you can sport them:

-Says designer Anita Dongre, "Team your coloured pants with a basic white blouse or a black tank or a short top."

-Coloured pants can easily be teamed with white or nude shirts for the day with sleeves rolled up and collar standing high.

-For accessories, designer Pria Kataria Puri suggests, "Since your pants are bright and bold and ready to grab some attention, it is better to keep all accessories sober and neutral. For example, team bright pants with nude ballerinas and aviator sunglasses."

-If you opt for orange-coloured denims, team with a white tee or a fitted cotton shirt for the office.

-Says Dongre, "You can also pair your hued pants with a blazer in basic colours like ink blue, white or black to try colour blocking, which is another favourite this season."

-Complete your look with a pair of brown, beige or white shoes and/or belt.

-To add a retro touch, you can opt for a checkered or striped blouse or a shirt in black, blue or white.

-You can even colour co-ordinate your shoes! The monochromatic nature tricks the eye and makes your legs look leaner and longer.

-Pair your colour pop pants with printed frilly tops in floral, geometric and abstract prints for a funky twist. Accessorise this look with a pair of oversized sunglasses and a colourful neckpiece. A pair of stylish pumps or wedges will complete the look.

    What you should avoid

-Refrain from wearing mixed prints along with coloured pants. It will be too much for the eye to absorb.

-If you really want to try something colourful on top as well, make sure what you sport on your torso fits into the same colour family as your pants.

    What colours to choose

Casual green: Pair these brights with an oversized top for a hip but casual look.

Blue: If you wish to sport electric blue pants, pair them with a polka-dotted tee or shirt. Strappy killer heels will boost your confidence.

Pink: Don't be shy of flaunting bright pink or fuchsia pants. Pull off the look with a denim jacket on a white shirt.

Bright yellow/mustard: Yellow pants look great when paired with a pop of pink in the form of a silk scarf, and a white shirt. They can be worn during the day as well as to a nightclub.

    Celeb spotting

Rocking the trend are Bollywood celebrities Sophie Choudry and Alicia Raut, who've been spotted in red slim-fits all over town. Apart from them, actresses Jacqueline Fernandes, Priyanka Chopra, Amrita Rao and Deepika Padukone are fans of the trend as are Hollywood beauties like Jessica Alba, Eva Longoria, Pippa Middleton and Kim Kardashian. They've worn them with everything from designer boots and turbans to blazers and scarfs, while shopping, running errands or grabbing lunch with gal pals.

    Off the ramp

Bright pants have been spotted in the 2012 collections at the New York, London, Paris and Milan fashion weeks as well. Diane von Furstenbeg, Dimitri and Frankie Morello are among a few of the top designers who featured this trend in their Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer collections. It was spotted at the recent fashion weeks here, in Spring/Summer lines by Indian designers Siddharth Tytler and Shivan and Narresh.

    Red fever

This summer is all about red legs! Skinny red jeans and jeggings can be worn at any time of the day (or night), dressed up to go out on the town or dressed down to be casual, and they come in a variety of materials, from stretch cotton blends to corduroy. They work for all shapes and sizes too.

Thatís a great post. Looks like you are quite a fashionista. I wanted to know whether you have heard of the new waterless campaign that Levis has launched. It is on the lines of conserving water and I was reading an article on the same.
