    Know About the Different Types of Popular Silk Saree.

    Saree is the traditional wear of india. Indian sarees, in perticular silk saree have worldwide popularity and have got immense recognition which is attributed with the quality,design, sheer and appealing appearance. moreover the credit should be given to the silk sari weavers in India whose contribution is making great effort to expose weaving quality is being exposed globally. Here we are going to discuss about famous types of silk saree in India.

    Kanchipuram Silk Saree
    Kanchipuram is a small district which is located in the south indian in the Tamilnadu state among all assortment of silk sarees produced in india.Kanchipuram is best silk saree amongst all in india.

    They are renowed for the purity of silk, quality, durability, design, color pattern and elegance. These sarees are the traditional wedding attire colorful silk threads are weaved into the saree with zari work at the borders and pallu. sometimes the zari works are weaved into the saree with zari work at the borders and pallu.

    sometimes, the zari works are weaved into the entire body of the saree, making it appealing generally takes around two to four weeks to weave a saree. the body of the saree is weaved seperately from the border with zari and pallu, and both are attached later. The glamour and elegance of the saree lies in the color patterns and shades. zari borders and pallu with attractive designs make the sarees more beautiful.

    Mysore silk saree

    Mysore silk is still another famous type of silk saree in india. Mysore is the city which is located in the sa tte of karnataka. Mysore silk is the trademark of the silk sarees manufactured by karnataka industries corporation. Unlike kanchi silk sarees, this is lightweight.

    These sarees are characterized b bright and heavy borders in unique, bright and contrast color combination body color will be fully contrasting to the color of border and pallu. Mostly, these sarees have plain body with nod esigns, impressive designer borders, and pallu. some of the vibrant and contrast color combinations of Mysore silk saries include pink and green, red and blue red and yellow, grey and green etc.. lately beauty of these sarees has been enhanced with embroidery work.

    Banaras Silk Saree

    Banaras silk sarees appear similar to kanchi silk sarees in design and rich look. Banaras silk saree named after Varanasi which is the hometown of these sarees. since their manufacturers and based in varanasi the design are inspired from Mughal Empire.

    FIne silk is used for weaving Banaras silk saree. and they are decorated with deep and intricate designs. Most of types of these sarees are heavier than other types due to embellishment into it.

    Paithani silk saree

    Paithani refers to a small town in Aurangabad located in the state of maharashtra. the town is basically famous for hand woven sarees. these sarees are slanted square designs in the border and peacock design in pallu. They are popular for the kaleidoscope designs, which are embedded in the sarees through weaving one color of the saree lengthwise and the other color width wise.

    these sarees are weaved using three types of silk namely charka, ciddle and china silk with china silk being rather expensive. the borders are weaved with metalic yarn, which makes the Paithani saree exclusive from others.

    Pochampally sarees

    The famous Pochampally sarees are woven in the small cluster of villages around Hyderabad in Andhrapradesh

    These sarees are usually woven from pure silk. The silk used in these sarees is brought from Bangalore while the jari or the golden thread is brought from Surat. Motifs such as elephants, flowers, parrots and diamonds are traditionally used in these sarees. The weavers are, however, developing new designs, keeping in view the changing trends and the preferences of the customers.

    Ikat sarees:

    These sarees are woven in Orissa. They are very much similar to the Pochampally sarees of Andhra Pradesh

    Patola sarees:

    The famous Patola sarees are manufactured in Patan in Gujarat. They are also very much similar in design to the Pochampally sarees.

    Garhwal sarees:

    The town of Garhwal near Hyderabad is famous for the production of Garhwal sarees. These sarees are known for their attractive borders, which are woven using silk threads.

    The sarees are usually woven from pure cotton, silk or a combination of cotton and silk. These sarees are also called ‘Kupadam' and ‘Kumbam' sarees.

    Venkatagiri sarees:

    The Venkatagiri sarees woven in the state of Andhra Pradesh are quite popular. These sarees are usually made of cotton.

    Traditional motifs such as flowers, animals and birds are woven into these sarees using a combination of silk thread and cotton thread.

    Bandhni sarees:

    Bandhni sarees are sarees that are produced mainly in the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan. They are also called ‘Bandhej' sarees. These sarees are produced using the art of ‘tie and dye'. Bandhej work is generally undertaken on silk and cotton cloth.

    Mostly, natural and bright colors are used in these sarees. Tie and dye is carried out to form different patterns. The ‘Gharchola' is a type of tie and dye saree produced in Gujarat and Rajasthan.

    This saree is traditionally used as a wedding saree.
