    Health concerns for men often go unspoken, brushed under the rug, avoided.

    Whether this is because of social stigma, male ego, or the world's obsession with women's magazines, it's time we started discussing men's health issues. These are issues that arise from the male anatomy and biology, also from behavior that occurs more commonly in men. Early detection and good lifestyle practices can prevent and also treat these conditions. Regular medical checkups and physical examinations are highly recommended after the age of 30.

    Matters of the heart

    Excessive fatty or cholesterol foods can increase your risk of heart disease. Also smoking or using tobacco products is a leading cause, along with excessive alcohol intake. Maintaining a healthy weight, and moderating the intake of alcohol are prime ways of maintaining good heart health. Following a nutritious diet, which comprises of fruits, vegetables, whole grain fibers, also lean meats helps and having a fitness routine is imperative.

    Prostate issues

    Even when prostate cancer is one of the most common ailments in men over 50, it is among the least treated ones. Early detection is the difference between life and death in this case. Prostates occur when the prostate is infected by pathogens such as bacteria. Dribbling after urination or frequent urges to urinate may result from an enlarged prostate condition known as benign prostatic hyperplasia.

    Testicular cancer

Stick to a nutritious and well-balanced diet and consult your doctor for regular cancer screenings. Limit your exposure to potential cancer-causing substances, such as radon, asbestos, radiation and air pollution.

    Erectile dysfunction

    Erectile dysfunction occurs when someone is not able to maintain or achieve an erection for intercourse. Psychological and biological factors may reduce or eliminate interest in sex. Men can also develop problems with ejaculation. Erectile dysfunction could result from a variety of contributing factors, such as stress, illness, medications or emotional problems. Communicate frankly with your partner and your doctor about sexual issues to overcome these problems.
