How to cure a throbbing headache

One of the most common ailments, headaches can be caused due to physical, environmental or mental factors.

While most of us don't think twice before popping a painkiller whenever we have a headache, you may want to consider the following alternates that may help you keep headaches at bay, naturally.

Icepacks: If you have a nagging pain due to stress and tension, apply an icepack on your head, throat, shoulders and back of the neck. This will give you relief.

Hydrate yourself: Sometimes, dehydration can cause a headache. Sit still for some time and drink water slowly.

Peppermint oil: Peppermint is a soother of nerves and can also revitalize a little energy. Massage peppermint oil on your head for about 15 minutes.

Protect your eyes: Computer radiation or excess light can also be responsible for headache. If you suffer from headaches due to excess use of computer, then use anti-glare spectacles while working on the computer.

Avoid excess of sugar: Sugared food or food additives such as preservatives, artificial flavours and colours can trigger pain in the head. Ensure that you stay away from such foods and try to include natural foods such as fruits and vegetables.

Sleep well: Lack of sleep is one of the most common reasons for headache. If you suffer from constant headaches, maintain a normal sleep schedule daily.
