    Hi Devi sis....
Most commonly fungal infection than irukkum...
clean well with warm, soapy water or else go with hydrogen peroxide solution if u have...
it will wash out dead infected cells and unwanted debris...
if any reddish swelling around, sign of inflammation, then u should go with antibiotic course...

    Re: Pain in toenail

    Nisha,

Onycholysis is a common nail disorder. It is the loosening or separation of a fingernail or toenail from its nail bed. It usually starts at the tip of the nail and progresses back.

In internet check out the photos of onycholysis and compare it with your nail.

Take care of your nail cuticles (the point where nail meets skin).

The portion of nail that has separated will not reattach to the nail bed and you will have to wait until the nail is fully regrown for the condition to be completely gone. Fingernails take 4-6 months to fully regrow whilst toenails may take twice as long.

To prevent deterioration or recurrence of onycholysis after it has cleared up:

    • Clip the affected portion of the nail, and keep the nails short.
    • Avoid injuring the affected nail, and keep the nail bed dry.
    • Avoid exposure to contact irritants such as nail enamel and enamel remover or solvents and detergents.
    • Wear vinyl cotton socks/gloves to avoid wetting the nail.

Some proteins and Vitamins deficiency that avoid getting good nails

    • Lack of vitamin A and calcium causing dryness and brittleness.
    • Lack of protein, folic acid and vitamin C causing hang nails
    • White bands across the nails caused by protein deficiency.
    • A lack of sufficient hydrochloric acid causing splitting nails.
    • Insufficient intake of vitamin B12 leading to excessive dryness, very rounded and curved ends and darkening of nails.
    • Insufficient zinc causing development of white spots on the nails.
    • Red skin around your cuticles can be caused by poor metabolism of essential fatty acids.

Katavelna ingrown toe naila irukka chance jasthima.

    Treatment for ingrown nail

    • Apply a mild antiseptic solution to the area.
    • Soak the foot in warm water 4 times a day. You do not need to add soap or antibacterial agents to the water.
    • Partial nail removal with cauterization of the nail matrix is curative in 70-90% of cases.
    • Wear comfortable shoes with adequate room for the toes. Consider wearing sandals until the condition clears up.
    • Putting cotton in the corner.

If home remedies don't help, your doctor can treat an ingrown toenail by trimming or removing the ingrown portion of your nail to help relieve pain.

Sometimes antibiotics are used to help the infection clear after the nail has been removed
