Antibiotic resistance is our problem not only doctor's anymore

Antibiotic medications are medications that kill bacteria, which can cause disease. They have major contribution to human health. Many diseases that once killed people can now treated effectively with antibiotics.

    Antibiotic resistant bacteria are bacteria
that are not controlled or killed by
antibiotics. They are able to survive and
even multiply in the presence of an
    antibiotic.

The most serious concern with antibiotic
resistance is that some bacteria have
become resistant to almost all of the easily
available antibiotics. These bacteria are able
to cause serious disease and this is a major
public health problem . Ex: TB bacteria

    Ways to prevent antibiotic resistance

    Minimise unnecessary prescribing and
    overprescribing of antibiotics.

Complete the entire course of the
prescribed antibiotic so that it can be
fully effective and not breed resistance

SO FRNS, PLZ DON'T TAKE ANTIBIOTICS UN NECESSARILY......WE MOST COMMOLY TAKE ANTIBIOTICS 4 COMMON COLD.......bt cold s nt caused by bacteria but by VIRUSES AND ANTIBIOTICS CAN'T KILL VIRUSES....So plz be aware....This s a major public health problem

P.S. Now some bacteria become resistant 2 almost all available antibiotics.....we don't have any medicines against such bacteria, atleast it will take a few years for new antibiotics to come 2 market....

Good info SBS ...... Yep , a major cause for prolonged hospitalisations is drug resistance ..... The govt should ban OTC availability of antibiotics without proper prescription ......... Thanks for sharing .............
