Intake of fruit juices in pregnancy
Fruits are healthy for our body because they are a natural source of nutrition, along with its nutritive value they also have fibre which is good for digestion and are easy to carry and pack so they are a good source of a snack anytime.
The best way to have fruits is in its natural form without processing them further because as we peel cut grind it, we destroy its nutrients and also deprive the body of that activity of processing the fruit.
Regular intake of a fruit juice as daily schedule in pregnancy is not that great an idea as compared to having the fruit itself. The human body is more than happy to work hard to bite chew and swallow and break down the fruit. Just because a knife, a grinder or mixer is around we don’t have to gets its money’s worth by using it where ever we can.
Fructose or fruit sugar is the closest relative to sugar, no wonder fruits are sweet. So a glass of juice will need more fruits ie more quantity of fruit sugar is served in a glass than a fruit or slices of the fruit. This high dose of fruit sugar spikes up the blood sugar levels. This is the equation without adding white sugar. Juices of Citrus fruits like orange and sweet lime may be the source of acidity on an empty stomach leading to distension and bloating in a pregnant woman.
It is better to have a fruit on a regular basis than a glass of juice. Fruit juices are best had occasionally in pregnancy. Nothing can replace the goodness of water.

Dear Mallee,
Fruits on an empty stomach can aggravate acidity in pregnancy. It is ideal to have it in between meals to bring down the gap between the meals.
Banana is the only fruit that can be had on an empty stomach, for any reason if you are getting late for a meal, a banana can hold up your energy and blood sugar levels.
Try to have whole fruits instead of a juice and stick to fruits that are seasonal and grown in the region. In such cases you would be having fresh fruits and keeping the level of preservatives at bay!
Take Care.

Stress in Pregnancy
Dear all,
Generations before us considered pregnancy and childbirth normal, natural and casual with big Families. Today’s trend in the urban scenario has nuclear families. One or two pregnancies can be weighing down on the expecting mothers? Long distances to commute ,career, steep competition, high expectations and demanding standards of living added to groceries, socializing, taking care of the family; has made a woman’s world larger than life. So when a woman gets pregnant she must understand the normal day to day routine along with the changes in the pregnancy can become stressful.
So the number of hours standing in the kitchen, commuting to work, working hours at office, prolonged sitting and exercising may need changes according to the present scenario. Back aches, ache in the sole of the feet indicate strain on the back due to prolonged sitting or standing. Heart burns, acidity, flatus, yellow colored urine through the day indicates irregular eating patterns with long gap and insufficient water intake. Extreme fatigue and irritability can even indicate iron deficiency. Frequent urination and anxiety of labor keeps the pregnant woman up in the night. Making peace with herself, her changing body and the growing fetus to bring a balance in life to be able to enjoy the pregnancy and avoid any complications cropping up is essential.
Take care……. God bless you……..
Loads of Love
