    Hi Susee,

Mix rice kanji (extracted from cooking rice) with gram flour or Shikakai and use it to wash your hair. It cleans and conditions your hair naturally.

    Or

Take egg white alone, mix it with a little sour curd and apply well on the scalp. Wash with warm water and bengal gram flour after 20 minutes of application.

Whatever may be, as far as possible avoid washing your hair with chlorinated water or salt water. Always rinse your hair well 2-3 times in fresh water.

Natural homemade shampoo is safe to use, healthy, amazingly budget-friendly or, in short, everything our standard store-bought shampoo isn’t which, you will agree, does make for a pretty good reason to give DIY shampoos a go. And with so many fantastic natural ingredients just waiting to be used in all those modern and traditional natural shampoo recipes and a list of 18 fantastic DIY shampoos, it’s time to go DIY or go home!
    1. STINGING NETTLE NATURAL HOMEMADE SHAMPOO FOR HAIR GROWTH

Homemade herbal shampoo for hair loss?-13001521_6937.jpg

First on my list of natural homemade shampoos is a recipe I’ve promised to one of our readers some time ago then shuffled through a whole lot of old notebooks only to realize I don’t have it anymore. Luckily, there are ladies out there who still had it and although it took some time, I finally managed to get my hands on it!
    Ingredients:
    Organic Nettle Shampoo (500ml)
    1-2 Table Spoons Panthenol Solution
    Stinging Nettle Extract (25ml)
    2-3 Vials Vitamin B Complex
    Castor Oil (50ml)
Pro Tip: Combine the ingredients together and store in a glass jar to avoid interaction with the herbs. Use this shampoo to improve the condition of your hair and prevent thinning. First results (new growth) should be visible after about a month and you should continue to use it over the course of next 3-4 months. Due to the properties of Panthenol (which acts as a natural silicone, coating the hair shaft making it feel stiffer than usual), a clarifying treatment might be a good one to throw in once in a while or, you can choose not to add Panthenol at all and apply it separately instead to roots only (which will reduce oiliness).

    2. BAKING SODA SHAMPOO

Homemade herbal shampoo for hair loss?-13001648_1947.jpg

Awesome for removing buildup, dandruff and excess sebum, baking soda shampoo is yet another great DIY shampoo to try out! I’ve tested this one just a few days ago and I can’t believe I’m actually going to say this but my hair felt and looked clean for four days straight (after which I had to wash it, not because it looked dirty but because of this little voice in my head which kept throwing in nasty comments). All you’ll have to do is mix a tablespoon of baking soda with a cup or two of water (I made a stronger solution and did my best to really massage it well into my scalp) and use it like you would use your regular shampoo! Now, I don’t know about you but this is definitely one of those natural shampoo recipes I’ll be using again!

    3. LEMON & CUCUMBER SHAMPOO

Homemade herbal shampoo for hair loss?-13001708_2514.jpg

Cleansing properties of lemons and nourishing properties of cucumber put together can help you go natural, take a break from regular shampoos and even find a cure for your poor dry scalp! And guess what? The instruction on how to make this shampoo is even easier than the first one! Simply peel (yes –peel!) one lemon and one cucumber put them into a food processor and process until you get a smooth runny paste to apply as a shampoo. Scrub, scrub, scrub then rinse reaaaally well (this is the tricky part because bits of lemon tend to cling horribly) and voila!

    4. CORNSTARCH DRY SHAMPOO

Homemade herbal shampoo for hair loss?-13001727_1853.jpg

Why spend all those $$$ on dry shampoos when you can get the same effect by using something as natural, harmless and budget-friendly as cornstarch? And guess what? Using this organic hair product doesn’t even require a set of DIY skills! Simply purchase this powder, choose a package that suits your needs best (a spare compact would be ideal) and use on your roots whenever they start looking oily. Dab-dab-wait-brush out…how simpler could it be!

    6. NATURAL HOMEMADE SHAMPOO FOR DRY HAIR

Homemade herbal shampoo for hair loss?-13001855_5119.jpg

Having dry hair often means spending a lot of cash on various shampoos, conditioners, deep conditioning mumbo jumbo and whatnot which, although can help to restore softness and shine, often do it only temporary. Well, here’s a neat natural shampoo recipe you ought to try out and the best thing about it is that it’s actually a shampoo and a conditioner which means you’re going natural all the way doubling your savings in the process!
    Ingredients:
Organic Castile Soap - Liquid (1 cup)
    Apple Cider Vinegar (2 Tablespoons)
    Tea Tree Oil (1 Tablespoon)
    Water (1/4 Cup)
    Instructions:
Mix all the ingredients together, pour into a spray bottle and add a few drops of your favorite essential oil.
