    Healthy food(1 to 3 years)

    Wholesome Porridge

    Ingredients:

    • Brown rice
    • Raagi(Finger millet )
    • Wheat
    • Soya beans
    • Green gram
    • Brown chana
    • Dried green peas
    • Nuts like cashew, almond, pistachios, peanuts (to be added only while roasting, not to be soaked)

    Method:

    • Take 1 measure of all the above items(Say 100 gms) separately and wash them thoroughly.
    • Soak them overnight separately.



    • Remove the water(Drain it) from all items and get all the above items sprouted by keeping it warm for another 8[COLOR=#009900 !important]hours[/COLOR].
    • Let all the items dry separately under sun for a day.
    • Roast all the items separately over stove till it turns to slight brown.
    • Roast above given nuts, half the measure of other grains (say 50 gms).




    • Grind all the items to fine powder.
    • [COLOR=#009900 !important]Store[/COLOR] it in a air tight container.

    Preparation:

    • Take 2 table spoon of above powder.
    • Mix it in warm milk to not [COLOR=#009900 !important]to form[/COLOR] lumps.
    • Add jaggery, and milk.
    • Move the container over stove on a low flame.
    • Keep on stirring.
    • When it comes to semi solid state, turn off the stove.
    • A healthy meal for a toddler is ready with wonderful aroma.
    • Serve the child warm porrdge, ghee, salt or cardmom if needed.

    Here is the nutrition value of the recipe:

    • Wheat is rich in Protein
    • Raagi is rich in Calcium
    • Brown rice is rich in Fibre, and Vitamin B
    • jaggary is rich in Iron, Minerals and Vitamins
    • Soya beans is rich in [COLOR=#009900 !important]Proteins[/COLOR], [COLOR=#009900 !important]Folic Acid[/COLOR] and all the [COLOR=#009900 !important]essential[/COLOR] fatty [COLOR=#009900 !important]acids[/COLOR]
    • Sprouted grains is rich in natural Vitamins, Food Enzymes, Amino Acids and Omega 3
    • Nuts contain Vitamin E
    • Green peas is rich in vitamin C



    PS: To start with, take only 1 type of grain, if baby can digest then only add next one and continue. This recipe can be given thrice a day till 2 years along with other [COLOR=#009900 !important]fruits and vegetables[/COLOR].
    After 2 years, when our baby is completely on regular food, then also we can give this porridge once a day. Because this recipe is very much rich in all the Vitamins and Proteins.

    METHI PARATHA:

    As every one knows, Methi Leaves are very good for health. Here is a yummy, stomach filling breakfast recipe.


    Ingredients:


    • 2 big bunch of Methi Leaves(Fenugreek Leaves) finely chopped
    • 4 cups of atta / wheet flour
    • 1 table spoon chilli powder
    • ˝ table spoon turmeric powder
    • 1 table spoon garam masala powder
    • 2 table spoon butter
    • ˝ table spoon sugar
    • 1 table spoon oil
    • Salt as per taste


    Method:



    • Separate out the Methi leaves from the bunch. Clean the leaves by washing in water and keeping them in salt water for 15 minutes.
    • Take out the Methi Leaves and finely chop them.



    • Take a big bowl, add wheet flour, finely chopped Methi Leaves, chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, butter, salt and sugar.
    • Add water, kneed it nicely and prepare a soft dough.



    • Apply oil and kneed it once again at the end. Leave it for 1 -2 hours.



    • Roll out each and cook on a tawa or griddle until both sides are golden brown.



    • Apply ghee on both the sides, while frying.


    • Serve hot with curds and tomato catchup.




    PS: Finely chopped onion also can be added, if one likes it. This dough can be prepared the previous night, which would make the parathas soft and less work in the early morning. One can even try with Kasoori methi leaves and ajwain, which increases the taste and food value.

    Corn and Peas With Cottage Cheese

    Yellow pearls of corn combined with peas and cubes of cottage cheese look really

    appealing and i'm sure your little angel will enjoy munching on them. A new flavour

    of mixed dried herbs is added to perk up this dish, as children at this age do enjoy

    experimenting with newer flavours. You should cook both the peas and the corn til

    they are very soft and can be mashed and chewed by your toddler

    Ingredients


    1/4 cup sweet corn kernels (makai ke dane)
    1/4 cup green peas
    1/4 cup paneer (cottage cheese) , cubed
    1 tbsp onions , chopped
    1 clove of garlic (lehsun) , chopped
    1/4 tsp dried mixed herbs
    1 tsp butter
    salt to taste


    Method


    Heat the butter and sauté the onion and garlic for 2 minutes.


    Add the corn, peas and ˝ cup of water and allow to simmer till the peas and corn are soft.


    Add the paneer, mixed herbs and salt and mix well


    Using a fork, mash the corn kernels and peas so that your toddler will not have

    trouble swallowing them.

    Fruity Munch

    A delicious sweet tangy sandwich made using a combination of fruits...Kids are sure to love this!



    Ingredients


    8 bread slices


    1 1/2 cups chopped mixed fruits ( pineapple , sweetlime ,

    orange and green grapes)


    5 tbsp tomato ketchup


    5 tbsp pomegranate (anar)


    8 mint leaves (phudina)


    salt and freshly ground black pepper powder to taste


    Method


    Apply a little ketchup on each bread slice and place them on a dry surface.


    Sprinkle equal quantities of fruits on top of each bread slice followed with pomegranate.


    Sprinkle salt and pepper and garnish with mint leaves.


    Serve immediately.
