    Getting rid of dark body areas is not only for a lady’s aesthetic purpose, but also for her self-confidence issues.

    Sporting discoloured knees and elbows during the cold weather isn’t a big problem, because no one will see them while you’re wearing your thick sweaters and pants.

    The fuss arises during summer, when ladies like you look great when wearing short sleeved or spaghetti strapped blouses, swimsuits and summer dresses. Likewise, girls who wear cocktail dresses and aren’t afraid to wear above-the-knee outfits always rock parties and social gatherings. You can easily get rid of these dark knees and elbows using various home remedies. The home remedies should be based on exfoliation and bleaching of the skin.
    The Power of Lemon
    Lemon and other strong citrus fruits can help you achieve whiter knees and elbows in two to four weeks.
    There are two methods to whiten dark knees and elbows using lemon. First, you may cut the lemon into four parts and rub each lemon slice directly onto the dark area for 3 to 5 minutes. Do not rub vigorously, but make sure that you rub firmly and thoroughly, covering all of the skin on your knees and elbows.
    The second way is to get fresh lemon juice using a juicer or blender and apply the juice onto the knees and elbows twice a day. Use cotton to apply the lemon juice so that your skin won’t be irritated.

    Other Home Remedies

    1. Baking Soda
    Baking soda is very effective in cleaning the skin and reduces darkening of the skin. Milk bleaches and cleanses the skin

    • Take one tablespoon of baking soda and mix it with milk
    • Apply this paste on knees and elbows and scrub it using circular motion.
    • Repeat the remedy once every two days. Repeat until you notice changes in the color.

    2. Turmeric , Honey And Milk
    Turmeric has antiseptic properties and milk act as bleach. Honey moisturizes the dry skin and also has antiseptic properties. These natural properties of the ingredients will help to get rid of black elbows and knees.

    • Mix some turmeric with milk and honey to make it a smooth paste
    • Apply it on the dark areas and leave it there for at least 20 minutes
    • Wet your hands and rub it for 2 minutes and then wash it off with water

    3. Lemon And Honey
    Lemon juice has natural bleaching property and honey moisturizes the skin preventing darkening of the skin. Repeat this remedy at least thrice a week to get better results


    • Take the juice of one lemon and mix it with one tablespoon of honey.
    • Apply the mixture of lemon and honey on the affected areas and leave the mixture to act for at least 20 minutes.
    • Wash the mixture off with water to get the lightened skin.


    4. Gram Flour And Lemon

    Gram flour can cleanse the area and also provides mild exfoliation. Lemon is a natural bleach and this will help to reduce the darkness.

    • Add some lime juice to gram flour to make it damp.
    • Apply the mixture and rub in circular motion, allow it to dry and wash it off to get light colored skin.

    Top Super foods for Weight Loss



    You have many options to choose from even if you follow a vegetarian diet. All the following are really good if you wish for healthy weight loss, without any form of diet plans (starvation) nor any appetite suppressants.

    Something Fishy: Fish like the wild Alaskan Salmon, sablefish, sardines, anchovies, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are very rich in Omega-3 fats that are very effective in controlling weight gain. Two to three seafood servings per week should lower your cholesterol as well, as these fish are high in monounsaturated fats. They provide added health benefits to lower the risks of heart diseases, arthritis, and memory loss. I for one, am all for this particular superfood, yummy!

    Berry Berry Fruity: Fruits like apples, grapefruits, blueberries, cranberries, pears, kiwifruits, peaches, plums, prunes, cherries, and oranges contain phytonutrient obesity fighters. Not only are they rich in fiber (aids quick digestion) but they also contain anti-inflammatory antioxidants. So rich are they in anti-oxidants, that just adding half a grapefruit to your breakfast increases your metabolism for the whole day. Fruits like acai berry, goji berries, mangosteen, and noni, do wonders for your weight loss agenda and even further your overall health. Avocados, olives and coconuts contain anti-adiposity fats and are also good for the weight watchers.

    Hot and Spicy Super foods: Hot and spicy super foods, like chili peppers, cayenne and chili powder are high calorie burners. They also contain anti-inflammatory antioxidants, fiber and other phytonutrient obesity fighters. So if you like hot and spicy Asian curries, don't gorge on them, because they are usually too oily and that is counterproductive to your weight loss plan.

    Nutty Snackers: Although high in calories, nuts and seeds are good to snack on as they contain anti-inflammatory fats. Sesame seeds (Tahini sesame butter), flaxseed, walnuts, cashew nuts, filberts, pumpkin seeds and hemp seeds are good snack substitutes for chips and other fast foods.     Low Fat Dairy Products: Low fat yogurt, low fat kefir and low fat probiotic milk are good options to get essential nutrients while still exercising weight gain control.     Beans and Whole Grains: Include Bengal gram, chickpeas, quinoa, hummus, kidney beans, navy beans, black beans and pinto beans in your diet plan. Oats, barley and buckwheat are also good weight watchers. The high fiber content of legumes will really help you with increasing your digestion metabolism, which in turn helps with weight loss. Consuming whole grains makes you feel full faster and thus gives the body more time to dispose the bad fats in the body.

    Vegetable Delights: If you're watching your weight, make it a point that you do not compromise on essential nutrients. Vegetables like spinach, kale, collard, sweet potatoes, chard, turnip, pumpkin, mustard, beet, etc. will do that very well for you. Even Brussels sprouts, broccoli, bell peppers, eggplant (brinjal), cabbage, lettuce, blue-green algae, and spirulina contain good amounts of anti-oxidants that will help your cause. Herbs like parsley, mint, rosemary, thyme, basil and oregano are good for overall health as well as weight maintenance.

    Apart from this list, there are some other foods that you should include in your diet plan. These super foods to be included are:

    Kombucha (Chinese medicinal, herbal tea)

    3 simple exercises for a flat tummy

    Want that enviable washboard ab? Practicing these moves regularly will help you.

    Don't want to end up injured or exhausted? Don't overdo things on the workout front. Instead, aim for a brisk 20-minute walk every day to burn fat, plus do the following exercises to help tone your abdominal muscles.

    Bicycle crunch:

    Lie down with your back pressed onto the floor. Bring your hands behind your head. Starting with your legs bent at a 45-degree angle, bring the right knee into the chest while straightening out your left leg. At the same time, rotate your top half so your left elbow goes to your right knee, then switch to the other side. Repeat for one minute,three times a day.

    The boat:

    Sit on the floor, with your knees bent and feet flat and tilt back, extending your legs so your body forms a right angle. Pull your abs in to balance. Extend your arms at shoulder height past your knees. Hold for five slow breaths and return to your starting position. Repeat five times a day.

    The plank:

    Lie face down then lift yourself up on to your toes and forearms, with your elbows bent at 90 degrees. Keeping your core muscles -— your stomach and bottom — tight and your legs straight, hold for 10 seconds. Repeat three times a day, gradually building to 40 seconds each.

    Benefits of Mint for Skin


    Mentha(mint) is a genus of plants in the family Lamiaceae. The species are not clearly distinct and estimates of the number of species varies from 13 to 18. Hybridization between some of the species occurs naturally.



    Mint is an essential ingredient in many Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine and is popularly mixed with natural plain yogurt to make a 'raita' or brewed with tea to make the famous Indian 'Pudina Chai'. In Thai cooking, it is added to soups and to some highly-spiced curries. Mint grown in Asia is much more strongly flavored than most European mints, with a sweet, cool aftertaste.

    Mint as Minta Spacata is a plant that has been long used in diverse cultures, such as India, Middle East and Europe. Mint has a sweet flavour, with a cooling after-sensation. Both, fresh and dried mint are used in preparing a large number of recipes, including curries, soups, chutneys, salads, juices, and ice creams.
