    Health Tip of the Day!!-black-chickpeas-774018.jpg

Chick Peas - Chick Peas are high in fiber and protein, and they have a low glycemic index. This powerful combination can help control your weight. Enjoying as little as 1/2 cup (125 ml) of chickpeas daily can keep you feeling full - and consuming fewer calories.

Including 3/4 cup chickpeas in your diet each day can help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol levels, which reduces the risk of heart disease. They are an excellent source of the trace mineral manganese, which is an essential co factor in a number of enzymes important in energy production and antioxidant defenses.

It can boost your energy because of their high iron content. This is particularly important for menstruating women, pregnant or lactating women and growing children. It contains phytochemicals called saponins, which can act as antioxidants. It could lower the risk of breast cancer, protect against osteoporosis and minimizes hot flushes in post-menopausal women.

Due to high fiber content and low Glucose, chickpeas are excellent for weight loss diets. Salad with chickpeas are tasty and can keep you full longer, controlling the appetite.

    Nutmeg(
சாதிக்காய்) - Nutmeg is very useful for treating muscular and joint pain and sores as it is an excellent sedative. It is also anti-inflammatory and therefore massaging the part that is in pain with nutmeg oil is an effective treatment for arthritis, rheumatism, lumbago, etc.

Nutmeg oil is good for digestion and helps in removing stomach aches and removing gas from stomach and intestine. Therefore, nutmeg oil is good for indigestion, flatulence, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. It also encourages appetite.
Care should be taken to consume nutmeg oil internally in lower doses.

Nutmeg can effectively stimulate your brain. As a result, it can help eliminate fatigue and stress. If you are suffering from anxiety or depression, nutmeg may also be a good remedy. Nutmeg can also improve your concentration so you can become more efficient and focused at work or at school.

Nutmeg is a good stimulant not just for the mind but also for the entire body. Its relaxing aroma comforts the body, increases blood circulation and therefore helps those who have poor blood circulation.

Re: Health Tip of the Day!!

Dear karthiga, you are most welcome. Here I would like to list down some of the home remedies using the nutmeg :

To control acne, grind 2 3 nutmeg seeds and add little milk to make a paste. After washing the face with warm water, pat it dry, and then spread the paste evenly over the acne. After two hours, use warm water to remove the paste, followed by cold water to close the pores. This paste also acts as a scrub to treat blackheads.
To promote sleep, drink one cup of milk boiled with 1/4th teaspoon of ground nutmeg.
To soothe eczema [red scaly patches], make a nutmeg paste by grinding nutmeg seeds with water and smear the paste over the scaly patches.
To calm chest cold, make a paste of nutmeg powder and flour with water. Cover the cotton cloth with paste and apply to the chest.
To relieve diarrhoea, drink a filtered mix of 1/4th teaspoon of ground nutmeg, 1 teaspoon of ground coffee in one cup of water.

    Health Tip of the Day!!-ijo4.jpg

Kiwis - Kiwis are loaded with huge amount of Vitamin A, C and E and also it is known that Vitamin C is a water soluble antioxidant. That is the reason the fruit save the body from free radicals and make improvements in health.

Dietary fiber helps the body to get relief from the diseases like colon cancer, diabetes, and high blood sugar. Fiber binds to toxic compounds in the colon and pushes it out. Even fiber plays very much important role to control the cholesterol level, improve cardiac health and lessen the possibility of having heart attacks.

Kiwi fruits are rich in many Vitamins, flavonoids and minerals. In particular, they contain a high amount of Vitamin C (more than oranges), as much potassium as bananas and a good amount of beta-carotene. These substances help protect our cells from oxidative damage, and are therefore considered very helpful in protecting our DNA from mutations and damage.

Not only is the fruit itself beneficial, but the seeds also benefiting us as well. They contain omega-3 and fatty acids which also help slow down the aging process of our skin.

Eating kiwi fruit through the duration of pregnancy is a great way to keep your healthy and also your growing baby. It helps regulate the digestive system, which will decrease the chance for the mother to develop imbalances such as constipation or lactose intolerance during pregnancy.
