    Pumpkin (Kaddu) is a gourd-like squash which is native to North America. Its commercially used for both food and recreation purposes, like for decoration around the Halloween. The name of this vegetable got its origin from the Greek word 'Pepon' which means 'Large Melon'. Its a wonderful source of nutrients like minerals, vitamins, antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids. Read about its substantial health benefits in this disclosure:

    Prostate cancer- Pumpkin seeds contain protective compounds called phytosterols. They reduce the risk of the occurrence of Prostate Cancer. It shrinks the prostate and pushes the secretion of chemicals that work against the transformation of testosterone into DHT (dihydrotestosterone). This process prevents the enlargement of prostate gland.

    Anti-inflammatory effect- The seeds and flesh of this veggie contains anti-inflammatory values. Its regular use prevents the problems of joint inflammation and arthritis.
    Healthy skin- You will find a high amount of vitamin C, A and E and zinc in this vegetable. All these nutrients help to form a glowing skin order. It prevents wrinkles and keeps your skin well-hydrated and nourished.
    Kidney stones- Eat around 5-10 seeds of this veggie daily as they prevent the formation of calcium oxalate stones in the kidney.

    Depression- The flesh of pumpkin contains tryptophan which triggers the feelings of happiness and makes your mood positive. So its use in routine prohibits the problem of depression.
    Parasites- In some parts of the world, this vegetable is used to treat the problems of tapeworms and other parasites.

    Diuretic nature- Due to the diuretic nature of this veggie, it helps in flushing out the toxins and waste material from the body.

    Reduces cholesterol- If you use pumpkins in regularity then they help to reduce the level of bad cholesterol.

    *In some cases, excessive use of pumpkin seeds might cause headache, stomach pain, hot flashes or gastrointestinal problems. So, talk to a good medical expert before starting its use.

    You have rightly pointed out the benefits of pumpkin and its seeds. Even the leaves of pumpkin plants are used for cooking vegetable in Maharastra. In that respect all the parts of pumpkin is very much useful. thanks gkarti.
