    hi girija,
i can perfectly understand what you have been through. It always pays to be patient. I am a single child and was brought up very fondly. My parents never said no to me. (that doesnt mean that i am arrogant.) if my wishes were honest and correctly expressed my parents never stood in my way.
Even my marriage was a love cum arranged marriage. So being brought up in such an environment, blindly obeying to elders even though it is against my wishes was impossible(still is). I agree to the opinions but final decision would be mine.
Major issue was raised in naming my child. My family members insisted on keeping elder's name. i suggested keeping a modern name for school records and a pet name of their taste (my hubby's grandma name. Ponnammal). Just imagine after 20 years my daughter will be called Ponnammal. I strongly restricted this and thank god my hubby supported me. Hence we solved the issue.

On reading your post I really wondered about you. You sound to me like a perfect daughter-in-law. I will try as much as possible to continue my patience.

    Thanks for your reply too.
