    Post Marriage proposal

    hi,

    Am living in singapore.
My family met groom family .
The groom is working in permit.
In the first meet, groom's sister asked how much is my salary coz they want to check if my income is sufficinet to get Permanent residence for their son. Then they asked after marriage where we going to stay? My parent's house or her house.Since boy's parents are in india.
We are not allowed to stay in groom's sister house. And my parent's house also nope as they feel is embarrasing to stay in mil house.
I replied the boy should be working atleast 2 years after getting PR to buy house in singapore.
But she replied, nope can buy house in ur cpf credit alone, juz stating u married a foreign spouse.
Am confused if the family is looking for a bride for their son or juz wanted a way to get a Permanent residence, job and house for their son. Is this common in arrnaged marriage?

    Re: Marriage proposal

    Hi Meena @meena65

As far as I think, there is nothing wrong in asking or talking like this.

Getting clarified with all the necessary doubts that too while living abroad, seems to be good only.

Instead of regretting later for not clarifying with these and any other details, this seems to be good.

As far as they do not demand too much of money or dowry, you can rely on them as the non-greedy persons.

In my point of view, you and your parents can go ahead with this proposal.

    All the best.
