    Be a budget beauty

Put in some hard work and find out online stores and vendors that sell branded cosmetics for cheap.

But be careful to read the description of the item before your order it. Also, if your favorite makeup or nail polish goes on sale, buy it. Usually products that are seasonal or trendy are the only ones that go on sale. If you receive coupons, take advantage; hit the beauty store and stock up all your cosmetics.

    Try experimenting

You may want to possess the same shampoo or the makeup kit that your stylist uses at his/her salon. If you always stick to expensive brand products, you may not realize that other reasonable brands exist. You may be paying double the amount for it and the product may not even be worth it. Experiment with other known brands to see if the cheaper product is an acceptable substitute. This doesn't always mean that you are sacrificing on quality. In case you are not comfortable with the cheaper brand, you can stick to pricey brands and use them sparingly to avoid wastage.

Touch up your roots at home

Colouring your entire hair at home can be a little risky as you might end up with uneven tones. Hence go to a stylist to color your hair, but you need not visit his/her salon every four to six weeks for a touch up. A box of hair dye costs much less than what a hair salon usually charges for a touch-up. Also, a touch-up will stretch your color between visits. If you haven't tried it before, ask a friend to help you to avoid missing sections.

    Set priorities

You don't have to compromise with things like hair and eyebrows, which take a while to grow back. Avoid the risk of going to an inexperienced hairstylist, just because he or she charges lesser than the rest. Similarly, if you've found a skin care regime that suits you well, don't cut it out, even if it's a little expensive. The better your skin, the lesser you'll need to spend on make-up to make it perfect.

    Opt for a nomad

Instead of visiting a high-end parlor, opt for a beauty professional who travels, who doesn't own a salon. The nomadic professional will usually be cheaper because he or she does not have to pay for a shop rental. Moreover, they even come to your home and save you your travelling time and money.

    Avail special offers

Ask your salon or spa to put you on their mailing or messaging list to learn about special offers and discounts. Salons usually come up with various packages from time to time. For example, they might offer you around six treatments for `1,000. These packages are usually cheaper. Also, some places give you a free haircut if you book a pricey treatment like hair straightening. Look out for good beauty deals.

    Squeeze it out

You may be throwing out products before they're used up just because it is harder to use the remnants of products than buying new ones. Use them completely, but do pay attention to expiry dates. Cut the end off tubes when they are empty and squeeze out the last drops, especially for expensive ones. Avoid putting outdated makeup products on your face or eyes to save money.

Smart tip: When you get to the bottom of your scent and it doesn't spray anymore, pour it into your body wash or an unscented moisturizer to get more use out of it.

    Stick to essentials

When you're on a budget, you need not experiment with new products, brands or colors. Know what you use regularly and what's just lying in your cupboard - and then spend your money accordingly. Do not invest in stuff you use rarely and stick to basics. Basics include one foundation, powder, blush, concealer, eyeliner and mascara. Choose two or three shades of eye shadow, lipstick, and lip gloss to mix and match colors for a good variety of looks. If you seldom wear makeup, but want to spice up your look for a special event, just visit the makeup counter at your local department or cosmetics store. You get a free makeover and flawless look for the night, without having to invest in products you'll never use again.

    Buy in bulk

Certain beauty stores have sales on their large packs of hair products and cosmetics like a buy 'one get one' scheme. This is when you can stock up on your favorite products for cheap. After all, beauty products usually never spoil unless you stop using them all together. So why not buy a year's supply of shampoo, body wash and conditioner! It's sensible and worth the money you spend. Try it out.

    Pamper your feet at home

Manicures and pedicures usually cost a bomb. If you take good care of your hands and feet, they can be skipped during the winter months. What you'll need is a small tub, a nail filer, a nail cutter, a foot scrub and your favorite nail color and you're all set to copy your salon expert. You'll have great feet without the expense of going to the salon.

Caution: Do not push your cuticles or attempt to cut your cuticles at home. It can damage your skin.
