    Tips to style your hair

    Tips to style your hair

It's become a trademark look for burlesque star Dita Von Teese and an increasing number of celebrities are donning retro waves these days. It is a look that is at once glamorous and chic, all rolled into one.

You'll need: l Hot rollers l Mousse or foam l Paddle brush l Section clips l Finishing spray

Step 1: The look you are aiming for is defined waves at the front with loose waves at the back.

Step 2: The products (mousse or foam) used are important to hold the look together. An extra body sculpting foam has been applied here to give hair volume followed by a drop of Moroccan oil to smoothen strands.

Step 3: Once you prep the hair, take a two-inch section from the crown and wrap it around a hot roller. Make sure the ends go in while rolling the hair or they will stick out in weird angles when you open the rollers.

Step 4: All the sections must be rolled backwards and away from the face, except the very first section. The first section, which is the fringe, must be rolled in the direction of your face in order to frame it.

Step 5: Your sections should be two inches wide around the crown and the hairline (at the front or the sides). You should have two or three sections on the crown and two or three sections on each side of the head. You can take bigger sections for the rest of the hair.

Step 6: Use medium to large rollers for the crown and the sides and smaller rollers for bigger sections at the back.

Step 7: After about 10 minutes, open the rollers. Comb out the hair using a paddle brush, moving the brush in an 'S' direction. Start from your parting, going outwards towards your forehead and then inwards to make defined waves
Step 8: Use section pins to pin the hair where the waves curve to enhance them.

Step 9: Set the hair with a finishing spray.
