Simple Makeup Tricks from Experts to Make Your Eyes Pop

Eyeliner can be your best friend, or your worst enemy. There are so many tricks to
the trade. So how do you know if you are doing it right for the best flattering look?

I have found makeup expert tips from all over the web to get that look you are looking for,
or just some tips you may have not thought of for your best look.

    Layer Your Liner

"If you’re not a professional makeup artist, it can be difficult to line those eyes, but
then again liquid liner tends to stay on longer and smudge-free. So what I do is,
I line my eyes first with a pencil liner because it’s easier to make that straight line
with it. Then I go back on the line with the liquid liner. It’s kind of like coloring!
The result? Your eye liner will stay on, smudge-free, and well-lined."
-Ysolt Usigan, beauty and style contributor at Huffington Post

    Re: SHaring and CAring........

For Soft and Sexy Eye Makeup

"For an eye look that’s defined but not too heavy, line your upper lash line with black
eyeliner and the bottom lash line with brown eyeliner. This is one of my biggest makeup
artist tricks for beautiful, soft eyes!”
    -Mally Roncal, celebrity makeup artist

    To Open Up Your Eyes

"Take a white eye pencil and line the inside rim of your lower eyelid. This really makes
eyes pop! Fun fact: Look at the old black/white photos of the gorgeous women of the ‘30s
and ‘40s like Marlene Dietrich and you'll see this was done to them. Additionally, if your
eyes are a close set, use the white pencil to lightly line the section where the upper and
lower lids come together, closest to the nose. This will make them appear wider apart.
The key here is to make sure it's sublte."
-Candice Sabatini, editorial director of BeautyNewsNYC.com

    For Thin Brows

"For people with thin brows, use a pencil first that is a bit lighter than your natural
color to define the shape, then follow with a brow powder that is close to your natural
hair color with a thin, strong angle brush. After, use a brow gel or sealer which will
set the powder. My fave is the Model in a Bottle - Long Lasting Eyebrow Sealer.
It is by far the best sealer out there and I have tried many.”

    Re: SHaring and CAring........

    Make Mascara Count

"Make a $5 tube of mascara look as good as the results from a $25 tube by holding a
business card up along the inside edge of your lashes and sweeping the brush against
it with your other hand. This way your lashes can't bend out of the way of the brush and
you end up coating every lash all the way to the tip. The results will leave you wide-eyed
    in more ways than one.”
-Wendy Toth, senior lifestyle editor for Digital Works @NBCU

    On the Inside

"Lining the waterline, or inner rim of the eye, adds intensity and extra definition, and
creates the illusion of a thicker, fuller lash line."
-Gilbert Soliz, Lead Artist for the Sephora PRO Beauty Team

    Faking the Straight Line

"Smudging is key when you're afraid you won't create a straight line," says Chang-Babaian.
"When applying eyeliner, it's not about creating a straight line with the pencil,
but going back and forth with your brush until the line is smooth."
-Eye makeup guru, Taylor Chang-Babaian, author of "Style Eyes.

    Larger Eyes

"If you completely cover both the top and bottom lash lines with liner, you're going to
close the eye, making it look smaller. To make it look larger, you only want to apply it
both halfway on top and bottom,"
Makeup artist Carmindy from TLC's What Not to Wear

    Make Them Look

"Wherever you put darkness is where your eye is drawn to, which means eyeliner allows you
to change the shape of your eye." Got small eyes? Make them bigger with a smoky wraparound.
Want to elongate your eyes' width? Do an exaggerated winged tip."

    Make Small Eyes Appear Larger

Make Eyes Appear Larger With These Simple Makeup Tips

Curl Your Lashes- One of the easiest secrets to utilizing eye makeup routine to correctly
make your eyes look larger is to curl your eyelashes. It’s important you curl your lashes
BEFORE you apply the mascara! If you forget to do it before applying your dark mascara,
be sure to wait until the mascara has dried completely and then go ahead and curl them.
If you find throughout the day your lashes aren’t as curled as they were in the morning
when you first applied your makeup, you can always re-curl them later in the day since your
mascara will be very dry by then.

Apply Mascara on Your Bottom Lashes- Many women think they don’t need mascara on their
bottom eye lashes. However, most makeup experts believe adding mascara to the lower lashes
can help to enlarge their appearance. The trick is to know how much to use on those bottom
lashes! Start by applying the mascara to the top lashes. Then, with whatever is left on your
brush (without redipping it into the mascara formula), apply it to the lower lashes.
Hold your brush vertically and sweep it back and forth over the lower lashes to get the
    right look.

False Lashes for Evening- If you want to go for a dramatic dark night time effect, you may
want to try your hand at false lashes. Most celebrities do use false lashes for big events.
If you know how to do the lash application properly, they can be beautiful and natural.
Many larger department stores can help you learn how to apply lashes at one of their
cosmetics and beauty products counters but they are also available at drugstores.
Be sure to practice before your big event. You can also remember to use scissors to trim
them (before applying them) if they are too long.

Use White Eye Liner in the Right Places- Another technique to use involves the creamy white
eye liner pencil. This can help you get a doe-eyed style that will brighten and widen your
eye appearance. To get this look, simply line the lower inside of your lids with the creamy
white eye pencil. Make sure to use a soft pencil to lessen the irritaion on your lid.
You can find great liners from Sephora, Loreal or Estee Lauder. To further brighten your
eye area, use this soft color also on the inside corner of both the upper and lower lids.

Apply Highlight Eye Shadow- If you don’t like the idea of the white shade of liner, you can
also use a platinum highlighter to open up the eye area. Simply apply your shadow as usual
and then use the highlighter on small dots along your brow bone just below your eyebrow.
Blend it in with the shadow in that area, apply it to the inner corners of the eyes and
    enjoy your new look.

Keep Eye Brows Plucked & Well Shaped For larger appearing eyes, you must also pay attention
to your brows. Be sure you manicure them well. Its a great idea to visit a professional to
get your brows waxed, tweezed or threaded. A pro can help you shape them properly.
In between pro visits you can maintain them by tweezing. If you have a slight arch to your
brows, you will find your eyes look larger.

How To Dress For The Workplace

How You Dress does affect how well you’ll do in the Work Force.

Many women don’t truly understand how important your image and how you dress really is in
the work place. You can be the best and most intelligent of employees, but if you’re image
isn’t reflecting that many of your work related assets will be overlooked by those around
you. A confident, pulled together professional look makes others around you assume that
these same qualities will be present in all areas of your character and this directly
affects how much clients, bosses and colleagues are willing to trust in you. With the
present economy increased competition in the workforce it’s more important now than ever
to make sure you’re everything from your job performance to your appearance is polished.

    Re: SHaring and CAring........

A common mistake many women make in the work force is wearing clothes that are ill-fitting,
dated or too revealing. How your clothes fit you is extremely important. Clothes that fit
incorrectly makes you look sloppy. Utilize a tailor if needed or simply steer clear of
clothes that don’t fit the way they should. Wearing clothes that makes you look dated gives
others the impression that you’re work skills are likely dated too. Many women make the
mistake of shopping the same store or brand every time they purchase clothes for work
which often ends up making them look dated. Shopping at a variety of stores and including
a piece or two from more contemporary line like a blazer in a modern cut from a line like
Rag & Bone will help you avoid this pitfall. Now, this should go without saying, but we all
know that it still needs to be said. Leave the bright makeup, body piercings, exposed
tattoos and revealing clothes for weekends and after hours, at work they’ll do nothing but
hinder you in and unless you work in a very creative industry also avoid clothes that are
    overly trendy.
