    Secrets of Copper water

Copper can destroy undesirable Virus and bacteria. It is interesting that ayurveda new this, when bacteria were unknown to science. Ayurveda recommends storing water in Copper Vessels. Ancient Egyptians used Copper Vessels to keep water fresh. Even today, management of Siva temple at Rameswaram uses large sized Copper vessels to store water brought from river Ganges to offer to lord Siva. Water, stored thus, stays fresh for years together.

Copper vessel can be the answer to kill the `E-Coly' bacteria which causes food poisoning, according to Scientists. British scientists are carrying out research on copper and concluded that copper ions kill these harmful bacteria, a capability not found in any other metals including gold. It is interesting to see that a research group from Southampton university found that Coly 157 bacterias can live happily in stainless steel vessels for months together, while copper vessel at room temperature can kill them in just four hours. At 4 deg centigrade, it takes 14 hours. At 20 deg centigrade, in the stainless steel vessel, those bacterials live for 34 days, while in brass vessel they live for 4 days.

Thus if one uses copper vessels for storing water in factories, shops, hospitals, restaurants, we can get rid of the risk of these food poisoning bacterias. Though stainless steel is much used due to its shine, apparent hygenic cleanliness, copper is more useful material for vessels. In Scotland alone, in 1997, 500 were sick by
water poisoning by E-Coil bacteria, out of which 20 died.

Copper water can be prepared in two ways. Fill a clean copper vessel with water and boil on low heat till water quantity reaches to 50%. Alternatively you can use a glass vessel and add copper scrap, copper wire bundle etc so that water absorbs more copper due to increased exposure area. When copper dissolves in water, water becomes ionic (electrolytre) as can be ascertained by its pH measurement. That is the reason the micro-organisms get killed in such water. Those who do not have time to look after water boiling, can keep water stored in a clean copper vessel and drink after 8-12 hours. Storing for more period causes no harm, but concentration of ions gets saturated.

Care must be taken to keep the inside of the vessel shining by using special cleaning powders. One such powder is available in Maharashtra, India under the brand name "Pitambari". However, hands must be protected by a scrub if one uses this powder. Alternatively, tamarind can be used safely. Due to copper water mania, nowadays special copper flasks which can be stored in fridge are available in Indian Market. However, copper pots should not be stored in fridge, drink at room temperatutre. "Sharp" quality of copper water gets destroyed by fridge.

    Re: Secrets of Copper water

    Copper and Fertility

Drinking copper water has another advantage. This was pointed out by Andrew Saul, Contributing Editor for the Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine, while speaking on fertility, conception and family planning. In his own words,

" If you want to conceive, try having the man take megadoses of vitamin C for a few weeks prior. At least 6,000 milligrams a day, and as much as 20,000 mg/day guarantees very high sperm production. Divide the dose throughout the day for maximum effect. And that effect is what, exactly? More sperm, stronger sperm, and better swimming sperm all occurred, at even lower daily C doses, in a
University of Texas study. Take more C and you'll make vast quantities of super sperm. You think this won't work? Have I shown you my baby pictures?

Here's more: zinc and plenty of it helps the prostate and increases seminal fluid production. There is a scientific literature a mile long about zinc and male fertility. About five to ten times the RDA will do it. That is approximately 50 to 100 mg of zinc daily. For best absorption and best results, divide the dose into two, or better yet, four doses. Zinc gluconate is well absorbed, and zinc monomethionine better still. These are available at any health food store without a prescription.

A lot of wussy nutritionists will tell you that such levels of zinc are harmful. Truth is, most men don't even get the puny RDA (Recommended Daily Average) of zinc, set laughingly at 10 or 12 milligrams. Zinc lozenges for the common cold are many times higher than this. Up to 550 mg of zinc has been safely given daily for a few weeks.

Continued high doses of zinc can produce a copper deficiency, and sometimes a copper deficiency anemia. This is very easy to compensate for. To begin with, most Americans have copper water pipes in their homes. Drink a glass or two of cold water first out of the tap every morning and you'll get copper. Secondly, eat more
raisins and other copper-high foods. Third, take a multiple vitamin (as you should be doing anyway) with copper in it. Finally, do what those sexpots in India have been doing for thousands of years. Buy a copper metal cup, fill it with cold water at bedtime, and drink it first thing the next morning. Make this Ayurvedic routine your
    routine, and start knitting booties.

I have worked with supposedly "infertile" people who have tried "everything" to conceive a child. Nutrition, especially the vitamin C part, is not even mentioned in any fertility textbook I've ever seen. I've received some nice postcards from couples who have taken an odd idea or two of mine and gotten pregnant within a month or two. It is a wonderful feeling, by the way, to have helped them bring a soul to the Earth."

The author of this post recommends eating raisins or dates to his diabetes patients also. The words of Andrew Saul clearly point how copper water can minimise copper deficiency anemia. It is also seen that copper water becomes "sharp" and gets readily absorbed by our body, reaches cells in about 45 minutes. Hence, it is generally recommended that after Ushapan, one should give a gap of 45 minutes before taking tea or coffee. Copper water is also recommended to people suffering
from vitiligo, where it helps formation of melanin.

After starting on copper water, many do not need cold water to satisfy the thirst. With yoga, pranayama and other breathing techniques, senses become so sharp that taste and sharpness of each water can be sensed adequately. Though copper water is slightly ionic, it does not cause gastric acidity to increase. On the other hand, due to increased Agni and digestion, it helps in such cases.

    Hair Loss and Copper water

Hair loss is a symptom and not disease itself. While allopathy touches the hair loss superficially, ayurveda considers it in depth. Hence the evolution of several hair oils, natural shampoos. While
modern 21st century woman cuts her hair short like men, long, smooth and lustrous hair was an asset in beauty and personality, especially in oriental lifestyle, as seen by ancient history depicted in
temples, pictures, idols. More than beauty, author feels that hair are given to us by god, as natural antennae for collecting cosmic energy emitted by universe. If the chakras are active, one can see
dark plenty hair on the parts the body, where chakras are located. A well known example is Ramdev Maharaj, whom you can watch on T.V. in India, twice a day or on website divyayoga.com. The hair also indicate the hormonal status.

There can be many reasons for hair loss, other than hormonal changes. Fatigue, shortness of breath, simultaneous weight loss and colorless face indicate the possibility of anemia as the most likely reason.

Anemia means reduced Hemoglobin in the body. Hemoglobin is made up of certain proteins and Iron. It is carrier of oxygen to all our blood cells. We need oxygen to produce the energy and loss of Hemoglobin reduces the energy produced, resulting in the fatigue. If the anemia is treated, hair loss automatically gets treated. There are three primary reasons for anemia:
    1. Inadequate production of RBC cells due to reduced nutrition, hormone unbalance or other diseases
    2. Destruction of Hemoglobin carrying cells due to genetic disorders
    3. Loss of blood through Menses, accidents etc.

Women become the victim of anemia mostly due to third reason. Even slight reduction in Hemoglobin causes thinning of hair, drying of hair, reduction in the dark shade ( the natural color of hair). While assessing the Hemoglobin quantity requires a costly blood test, ayurvedists examine it simply by color of the face, color of the nails when a finger is pressed. Hands and feet are very informative areas of the body which contain the information on state of the body, and also contain thousands of acupuncture points for whole body.

Our body requires copper as a catalyst for hydrogen oxidation, development of Melanin (the compound which gives natural color to hair) and also for releasing the iron extracted out of the old RBC cells accumulated in liver. Other than dates, raisins, copper water, copper is available in various foods such as mushrooms, grains, cereals, fruits having tough skins. Mushrooms contain a significant
    amount of copper.

Another variety of anemia is mostly noted in the age group above forty, as a result of deficiency of B12 vitamin and Folic acid. The deficiency of a chemical responsible for absorption of this vitamin
causes this anemia. This vitamin is needed to produce more blood cells in bone marrow. This anemia shows similar symptoms. IN addition, bleeding through nose, loss of weight and appetite, thinning of hair, drying and/or hardening of hair can occur.

In general, most of the diseases cause reduction of blood iron, and drinking of copper water, soaked dates/raisins can be a general recommendation.

    Re: Secrets of Copper water

Yogis and traditional households in India have for thousands of years (and are till today) been utilizing a simple, practical and effective method of drinking water in its most holistic way- drinking water from a copper cup or a large copper vessel where water is stored.

Ayurveda recommends storing water in copper vessels. Benefits of copper according to ayurveda:
    - Drinking water from copper cups prevents ageing, vaya-sthapak.
    - Copper can destroy undesirable virus and bacteria.

When copper dissolves in water, water becomes ionic (electrolyte) as can be ascertained by its pH measurement. That is the reason the micro-organisms get killed in such water.

Yogis have revered copper as an ideal container to positively charge water before drinking it. For thousands of years, the yogis would carry water in their copper pot called 'kamandalam'.

First recognized in the 1870's as a normal constituent of blood, copper is a trace mineral that plays an important role in our metabolism, largely because it allows many critical enzymes to function
    properly.

Copper plays an important part in the following:

    - Iron Utilization
    - Elimination of Free Radicals
    - Development of Bone & Connective Tissue
    - Melanin Production

Oligodynamic effect: Copper has proven to kill bacteria due to what is called the 'oligodynamic'
    effect.

The oligodynamic effect (Greek oligos = few, dynamis = force) was discovered in 1893 by the Swiss KW Nägeli as a toxic effect of metal-ions on living cells, algae, moulds, spores, fungi, virus, prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms, even in relatively low concentrations. This antimicrobial effect is shown by ions of: mercury, silver, copper, iron, lead, zinc, bismuth, gold, aluminum and other metals.

Certain metals such as copper are known to be far more poisonous to bacteria than others, e.g. stainless steel or aluminumA healthy routine and common practice for all doshas is to fill up a copper cup from a vessel such as this with water at night and then to drink it first thing in the morning. This washes the GI track, flushes the kidneys, and stimulates peristalsis.

It also purifies the blood, promotes healthy skin and prevents asthma, as water with traces of

copper in it changes the tendency to attract respiratory problems.
