    Infant Care

    Hi Friends
These are some tips which i know and would like to share with you

    • Do's and Dont's for infants
    • Preparing Kanji for infants
    • simple home remedies

    Do's and Dont's

    • Use cotton cloths as much as possible And also use the cotton swaddling blankets for comfort.
    • Wash the clothes before wearing the baby.
    • Feeding bottles and rubbers should be well boiled. Do not use detergents to wash.
    • Use baby detergent instead of our standard detergent which contain a lot of chemicals and unhealthy chemical-based fragrances so those are not a good choice for washing baby’s clothing and linens. If you are using a biodegradable, fragrance and dye-free, hypoallergenic detergent like Seventh Generation, for example, you don’t need to buy a special detergent just for your baby’s laundry—they are overpriced and typically still not as good a choice for babies as an eco-friendly detergent.

    • Usage of antiseptic liquids more to the baby clothes can be avoided.

Here are some first-aid kit suggestions you might like to consider:

    • Baby thermometer.
    • Children's and babies' liquid pain reliever containing paracetamol or ibuprofen. You will need a measuring spoon or no-needle dosing syringe. Always follow the dosage instructions on the label.
    • Calamine lotion for sunburn and rashes.
    • Antiseptic cream for cuts and scrapes. Apply to cuts, grazes or minor burns after cleaning to help prevent infection.

    • Tweezers to remove splinters and thorns.
    • Ice packs can be kept in the fridge direct contact with ice can cause a cold burn on skin.
    • Antiseptic wipes. These are a handy way to clean cuts and grazes. To clean a wound, gently work away from the centre to remove dirt and germs.

        • Assorted bandages

Preparing Rice Kuzh for baby (which can be given after 6 months)

    Ingredients:
    Boiled Rice (Puzhungal arisi)
    omam little
Badam 5 (as it is good for brain development)
    Sukku small piece. (for digestion)

Soak rice in water and grind finely thick. then add crushed omam, badam and sukku and dry it in sun light. (In fine sun light should get dried in a day or two).

After drying store the powder in a clean container
    .

    Preparation:
Add a spoon of powder mix well in water.
Keep it in low flame and stir well.
When the mixture change like a gel add sugar and milk. mix well and can be fed to the baby.

    Simple Home Remedies:

    • Have Vasambu in hand for ever in two forms.
    • 1) Soak it in milk and boil it for few minutes and dry it in sun light. -- helpful for intake when the baby cries with stomach pain. It relieves stomach pain due to gas problem.
    • 2) normal raw one -- helpful during loose motion of baby. show the raw vasambu in flame. Take the ash from the burnt part and mix with milk and make it as paste and give to child. will relieve immediately.
    • Sukku can also be given along with Vasambu as it is good for digestion. (prepare sukku also like the 1st method)
    • When the kid gets cold (initial stages) Take Tulsi, Karpura valli leaves. wash well. along with little omam crush it and give to child.
    • Keep babies in sun light for a little time so that bone gets strengthened.
    • For Some red dots or circles in skin little bit of vasambu can be heated along with gingelly oil and can be applied to the skin before bathing.
    • For stomach pain due to gas, take a beetle leaf and apply a drop of gingelly oil/castor oil in it and show the leaf in flame two or 3 times and keep in the stomach. it will stick to the stomach. when the gas is released it will fall down. it will also reduce heat.

Few silly doubts. Should the leaf allowed to cool before putting on baby stomach? Where exactly on stomach? Are the leaves little burnt after showing in flame 3 times?

3 times just show and take. it wont burn but it looks dull. the heat will be moderate as we can touch with hand and with the heat put in baby's belly button. it will get sticked with belly.
