The 'will' for life

Parents are jotting down life lessons for their children. These ethical wills transfer values and ideas, not wealth, to the next generation.

How does one explain the importance of patience as a virtue to a six-year-old ? Vanee Jaising, 44, a consultant numerologist and former copywriter in Mumbai wrote a short story to describe to her seven-year-old twins why it pays to be patient in life. "The story talks of a child who is soon going to have a sibling. But he wants the baby to come out right away. So his grandfather asks him to help him bake a cake. The grandfather insists on taking the cake out of the oven in 20 minutes but the child insists that it will take longer otherwise it will not bake well. The grandfather then explains that babies too need the right time to get ready and then they come into this world, " says Jaising.
