    How to stop breastfeeding naturally

    How to stop breastfeeding naturally

You can breastfeed you baby until the baby is 2 years old.

This is the maximum age. You can stop it from the age of 1 years to 2 years, also.

Many moms may not know how to stop the breastfeeding.

They may also be emotionally upset when the child cries in the night and search for the breastfeed. This restricts them from stopping and may be totally confused as how to stop.

Few more mothers may be in a situation, where the doctors would have advised her not to feed the baby (in rare cases).

Re: How to stop breastfeeding naturally

At the same time, when you have started the process to stop lactating your baby, the baby would feel very difficult to cope up with the situation.

Here are few tips to tackle the situation.

    • You can reduce the lactation to very few times. Gradually reduce it .

    • Usually, only during the night times, the child may need to lactate, as he would be concentrating on many other plays during the day time.
    • So, during the dinner, feed him with stomach full food.
    • Later, while sleeping, give him a glass of milk .
    • This will make him not to feel hungry.
    • If he cries in the night, just give him a little water and soothe his head and again make him sleep.

In case, the child cries for feeding during the day time, you can follow the below tips.

    • Till now you would have followed a regular time for lactating and a specific place at home.
    • From now, you should try to distract his thought of lactation.
    • Now, during this time, you give him any snack to eat.
    • You can give a glass of milk , in the Sipper.
    • If the child is above 1 year, please avoid the bottle feeding.
    • Later, it will become difficult to change the bottle practice.
    • So, you can buy 2 or 3 colorful and different shaped Sipper, by which he would be attracted. Each and every time, you can use different sipper to attract him.
    • Try to avoid the place , where you usually feed him.
    • Your house members or your husband can take him outside right at the time of lactation.
    • By this , he would forget about lactation.
    • When he is refused lactation, the main thing is you should not become emotional with his cries.
    • When he is refused lactation, he may switch over to thumb sucking .
    • Never allow this habit to continue.
    • Try to distract him with his favourite toys or favourite songs or any other thing.
    • When your milk production stops, he will find it in few days and will stop automatically to lactate.
    • Some children just want to suck , even if they don’t get milk.
    • Do not allow this and just give some water or milk during this time.
    • When he searches for you during this time, you husband can take him and distract his attention.
