How will you feel after cesarean delivery?

How will You Emotionally feel after C-section delivery?

Like any new mother, you will feel overwhelmed by the new person in your arms. But you will also be recovering from the major abdominal surgery and also dealing with the typical postpartum blues like mood swings, engorged breasts and vaginal discharge.

How do You Physically feel right after surgery?

    • Breast feeding can be challenging in the days after the c-section because of the pain of healing incision. Ask your doctor/nurse to help you position your baby comfortably as soon as possible so that you wont endup with sore nipples.
    • you may feel soreness and numbness in the incision site and the scar will be little raised and puffy.
    • The doctor will look at the incision daily till you are in the hospital and make sure its healing well.
    • Anything that puts pressure in the area will surely hurt at first and will get better day by day. Donot forget to use pillow or a big towel and support the incision when you cough, sneeze or even laugh.
    • Nurse will first come and check on you and help you every few hours. She will take your vital signs, feel your belly to make sure your uterus is firm and also assess the amount of bleeding, If you have catherer she will also assess the amount of urine output(this is to make sure your kidneys are working fine).
    • Like any women you will have vaginal discharge called "lochia", which is blood and the sloghed-off tissue lining of uterus. It will be bright red for the first couple of days.
    • Your nurse will help you how to cough and do breathing excercises to expand your lungs and clear the fluid. This is very important if you had general anesthesia. This will help you from getting pneumonia.
    • You might have some gas pain and bloating for the first couple of days. You health care provider will prescribe you the gas relief medication. Gas tend to build as the intestines are dull after surgery.
    • Getting up and moving around is very important and help with the gas pain.
    • At first even getting to bathroom may seem to be impossible task. But moving around and walking is very important and will help for blood circulation and prevent blood clots. (this is where walking during pregnancy will help.Walking during pregnancy helps relax and strengthen abdominal muscles and help for easy recovery after surgery). and also it will help for your bowel movements that will make you feel a whole lot comfortable. Its very important to urinate regularly and frequently as the pressure in the bladder will put pressure in the uterus which in turn will put pressure in the incision which will make you uncomfortable..
    • By second day you will be starting your short walk with the help of your birth partner(hubby/mom/friend). Always have these walks after you take pain medication because you will be a little more comfortable after taking it.
    • After 3/4 days doctor will remove your suture/staples. This will take minutes and you will feel a little pinch but no pain. After she looked through your wound, if everything is healing in the regular manner, you will be sent home.

Just after 4 months when baby starts solids, you can start going for gym and eat healthy instead of dieting, as you still be breastfeeding your baby if thats your choice..
If you are not a gym person , then walking is the best exercise.
And also you will be running behind your 2 yr old. So all will help
