    Homemade Masks for Puffy Eyes

    Homemade Masks for Puffy Eyes

The skin around our eye area is the most delicate and sensitive. The first signs of stress, illness, late night parties etc can be seen on it in form of puffiness, redness dark circles and so on.
Treating the causes, such as getting more sleep and reducing stress and intake of alcohol etc. can be the first step in treating this problem. Rest can be sorted out with some simple home remedies mentioned below.

    Tea compression
Steep 2 bags, of your choice of tea (green or black) in hot water for three to five minutes. Let cool until the bags are comfortably warm to the touch. Lie down, close your eyes, and place a tea bag over each eye; then cover with a soft cloth. Wait for 10-15 minutes then wash, dry, and moisturize your face as usual.
    Egg mask
Whip up 1 or 2 egg whites until stiff, and apply with a brush or soft cloth underneath your eyes. The skin will feel tighter and look less like puff pastry.
    Potato Mask
Peel one potato, then wash and dry it. Grate the potato as fine as possible. Now grate the potato and put them in a clean cloth and tie it up. Now place this cloth over the eyelids for several minutes. Repeat the process several times until the puffiness around the eyes gets reduced. Potato starch acts as an anti-inflammatory agent to ease irritated eyes.
    Spoon Compression
Take five to six metal spoons and place it in your refrigerator for five to ten minutes. Now take out the cold spoon and hold the rounded portion against your eye for a few minutes until the spoon becomes warm. As the spoon warms, replace it with a cold one from the refrigerator.

    Water and salt mix
For this remedy take a glass of warm water and add half teaspoon of salt in it and mix it properly. Make sure the water is not too hot. Now soak cotton balls or wool eye pads in this warm saline water and apply them over your eyelids for a few minutes. Repeat the process for at least half an hour.
    Strawberries mask
Keep 2-3 strawberries in the refrigerator for half an hour and then slice them into thick pieces. Now lie down and place the slices under the eyes for several minutes. Once the strawberries are removed, you will notice positive improvements.
    Olive Oil Tea Bag Soother
Simply place wet tea bags in the freezer to chill, and while the tea bags are chilling, apply olive oil to your eyelids with cotton balls. After the tea bags are sufficiently chilled, remove them from the freezer, and place them on your eyelids. After about ten minutes, remove the tea bags and wash, dry, and moisturize your face as usual.
    Milk
Dip cotton pads in chilled milk and place on your eyelids and relax for 20-30 minutes. This will help your eyes in water retention and it would also cool them off.
    Vitamin E
Take chilled water in a bowl and add a few drops of vitamin E oil to it, now mix the two well. Dip cotton pads in this mixture and place on the eyes for 20 minutes, this well help in reducing the swelling around the eyes.
    Cucumber Mask:
Place a cool cucumber slice over each eye for 10 15 minutes. Cucumber slices are probably one of the oldest and most well known home remedies for eye puffiness.

But, before you try out above mentioned remedies it should be remembered that if the puffiness is accompanied by blurred vision and pain then a doctor must be consulted.
