    Re: Penmai Special Contest July Month -

    Dear Ilavarasi Ma'am,

I feel so Excited and amazed to be able to participate in this Contest. Thanking you very Much for giving me this Chance!

    Great Topics - Environment,
    Education System,
    Corruption/Politics.

    I chose the 3rd one -
    Corruption/Politics OK.. Lets go!!

Ancient sages of India passed their life preaching their students about truth, good thoughts and character, serving all human society but as we see today, there all efforts were lost in coarse of time. Today human is morally so weak than it was never before. Human values are completely changed. A rule is applied today
"Money is mightier than everything". A person with large bank balance is welcomed by all. Everybody is running behind money and this is the reason for a major problem called corruption.

Corruption cannot be defined in single word. Corruption has many form, one can easily understand corruption by word corrupt. Corrupt means the behavior that is not socially acceptable. When a person acts opposite to his duties, breaks social law and order, the person is said to be involved in corruption. "Giving priority to one’s own interest rather than country" is another definition of corruption.

In this technological age, everybody wants to maintain their standard of living as high as possible. And hence to do so they take the support of corruption. There are many other reasons of corruption such as poverty, unemployment etc. But the main reason is that the people want to enjoy each and every pleasure of world. They want car, big house, large bank balance and each and every thing, their needs are endless. Corruption is today the shortcut of success. Everyone is involved is corruption at small or large level. There is a blind race between people to achieve something which is not much needed. We forgot the teachings of our ancient sages, we forgot what our parents taught us and we forgot the morals of stories that we read in our childhood.

    India has ranked
95 out of 183 countries. It’s really a stressful situation for India. Its shows where is our country standing in the development field. From top level to bottom level let it be the government or private both are equally corrupted. It seems our laws and rules regulations are totally hampered.

Corruption is everywhere, even in education, so the administrators who are in power are also coming from there and they also acquainted about the issue. We all know that as per our constitution, Minister of respective department is the administrative head and due to their busy schedule they cannot always keep their eyes on every issues or files etc. The main roles in that situation are played by the respective IAS official in-charge of the ministry.

Hence they are then all in all with full administrative power, if they want to do any malpractice, they can do it freely. So when the Protectors become the Predictors and nobody can restraint them from doing.

And this happens in most of the fields and a certain numbers of administrators /official/outsiders are doing these, which directly and indirectly affected our economy as well as our society.

It became a sway all over the world now-a-days. It can be categorized as follows,,

Administrative Corruption includes persons like higher authorities, officers, police officers, clerks, peons, etc. Money makes the mare go.

Professional Corruption means related to business. It includes duplicating medicines, duplicating import items/theft items, duplicating hygienic products, mixture in eatables etc. Mixture in spices, stones in cereals, kerosene in petrol etc. are under professional corruption.

    Next Comes to
Political Corruption - The main reason for this ever increasing menace of corruption in India is lack of political will to check corruption & absence of stringent laws to deal with it.

We must understand the basic fact that not all the politicians are corrupted, because still there are some politicians, who care and also work for the people. But it is not correct to compare them with some of the great politicians of the past.

When we think about the actual reason, why these politicians are getting corrupted, we have just one answer and that is Politicians are selfish and greedy. But we can say that the politicians want to earn lot of money within their period of 5 years as they are not very sure, whether they will be elected again or not. So majority of the politicians just use Politics as a platform for earning money and money is their first priority to them, while their main task of saving the people always remains as the secondary task.

Politics has many meaning and the way you look at it. Politics can be normally referred as the modem to govern a govt. Politics is the art of leading the aspirations of that particular constituency or area ie Assembly and Parliament constituency. Politics is the game which the leaders play against the gullible public. Politics is the music which played by the Ministers to the soothing ears of people.

Politics - A fearful place or Ditch??

This is a common thought for many people, that politics is a ditch and never believes in politics. But this is absolutely false. Politics is a great platform to help the people. Really no one in this world have see God, but suppose if we see God, then we will definitely get help from the God and our problem will be solved.

So the politicians must understand that they are like a direct savior of God, who came to the post (MP or MLA) just to help the people. In other words, we can say that if they have the thought that people depend on them and waiting for their help, then their heart will really instruct the mind, to go and help the people, who voted for them.

So politics can never be a gutter and Politicians must make sure that they are in a highly respectable and important position of helping the people. But nowadays we can see that majority of the politicians are corrupted and it is only because of these politicians, the people have a bad idea about the entire field of politics.

    Re: Penmai Special Contest July Month -

Is there any Settlement for corruption??

This is a billion dollar question and the answer is unknown. We can still argue that all the politicians must be removed and young educated people must take their post, but this practically impossible, because experience is a key factor and all the cabinet members are well experienced. So Experience is the key and definitely, all of a sudden we can’t ask the politicians to step down.

So coming to the next possibilities, strict laws against politicians is another chance for solving corruption. But India is a secular and Democratic country and we can’t have very strict laws, like death sentence, as being used in China. At the maximum the strict laws here mean, some 5 to 10 years of imprisonment and we knew what would happen if politicians are arrested.

The only possible way, that corruption can be removed from politics, lies in the hands of people. They must select the right candidate for the right post. But still we have problems, because most of the politicians are corrupted and people can’t chose the correct person. Now the entire decision lies in the hands of the Election commission, because they must have an additional option in the Electronic Voting Machine itself, and the option should be “I don’t want to vote for anybody”. But as a matter of fact the Election Commission has this option, in the form of Rule 49 – O, i.e. to protest vote or against vote. This was a great move, but still this remains as an unknown fact to the people. So either they must have a new method or make the existing method familiar to all the people.

So what will the next option if a constituency get the maximum percentage of “no vote”. In past this haven’t occurred and we can believe that if a constituency has full of corrupted candidates, and people vote for this option, then that is going to be the start of change in Indian politics. Let us hope that people are aware of this option and better make this option, instead of not voting and giving a silly reason, that all politicians are bad.

To give education to the masses by the government will help a lot to curve corruption in India. Indians have now become more aware of corruption and thanks to the sustained efforts of Anna Hazare and others.

And why we’d have a leader to tell about corruption. We are all educated and we at Penmai make a start right from here. All the members of this site must not allow and nor involve in bribing to get done any work. If the work in public place is getting delayed, we must ask for the reason and never ever try to crease the palm of the officials or the clerks. There is the Right to information act which gives us leverage to know the facts and we must assert our rights.

Every citizen in India has a big responsibility to eradicate corruption like that of Polio.

    Say no to Racism,
    Say no to Discrimination,
Instead let's go forward for a united nation
To bring a Corruption free India.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Karthiga Guru.

    Re: Penmai Special Contest July Month -

Education System
Corruption / Politics
