Re: ரமணிசந்திரன் நாவல் படிக்கும் தோழிகளே .. க&
Hi Friends,
I found this article about Ramani Chandran Novels today. I was introduced to her novels when I was in my 6th grade. I will hide myself to read them.
I have poleo in my left leg, therefore I don't walk as anyone else, but, I do everything from swimming to driving or cycling, except running. As common as anyone else my thoughts were floating up in the air. Hoping there'll be someone kind enough will come to marry me, never worried about being rich. Everytime my mother said financial independance is very important for you and you achieve it with your studies, I studied medicine but, I counted on my prince charming to love me forever.
I did have someone come by and he married me. I did tell him the consequences about marrying someone like me and he said that it was fine. I again warned him spelling out the consequemces, like how people will stare at me when I walk on the road, it can be very embarassing, some of them will even walk upto me and ask me what is wrong my leg and so on. He said it doesn't bother him. I thanked all the Gods I believed in...!! My mother wasn't alive when all these happened, all my mother's sisters and brothers got me married.
The happiness lasted only a month. The first time in my life I ever heard the words "sothi" and "nondi" "you are a liability living and eating in my money". My entire world shattered. It was worse than when my brother asked not to come in front of his friends 'cos, he can't face too many question. I asked God, what did I ever do to anyone.
Years went by, I did not have the courage to break my marriage as it was entirely spent by my aunts and uncles. I had two children in the mean time.. his frustration never stopped. I stopped going out with him, he will go out with his parents. I will somehow save a 10$ in the weekly grocery money to buy a Ramani chandran novel, advantage of living in Canada.
Everytime I want to go back to my profession, he's say he doesn't want to send his children to day care. I found a labour job in a shipping comany to work from home, it does require a fare bit of physical strength, I put up with all the pain in the end of the day. I was adament to alteast to give some money atleast for my food and lodging. I try not to talk to anyone, when I am waiting at the shipping comany, I read her novels again and again. Still floating....!!!
My only resort was Ramani Chandran again. I was trying my best to hide my life from the rest of my family and I was pretty successful with it. Until my husband told my 7 year old son that your mother is useless, it's bad luck she's your mother.
Finally, I decided to leave, when both my 7 year old son and 3 year old daughter said, " we don't like you". I went back to Australia, and took up my old profession, but, a flying doctor.
I am back to square one, all by myself and Ramani Chandran. She has been my only companion all through my life. Thanks to IL and penmai, I have a whole lot of tamil novels downloaded, these are my best friends.
This is not to pick up any sympathy only to drop off my heart's storage for the first time in 43 years. Thanks...!!
