Your cubicle reveals much about you
Your cubicle reveals much about you
Whether you like it or not, you have to admit that you end up spending more time in your office than in your own bedroom. It's no surprise then that your workspace ends speaking more about you than anything else. Whether you are a control freak, a slacker or a risk-taker, the mess (or lack of it!) on your desk speaks volumes about your personality. Here are some popular desk-types:
Chaos courter:
Stacks of papers everywhere, food wrappers strewn around, scribbled notes on every legible space and a whole lot of mess - the chaotic desk only shows how disorganized your own brain is. While you may spend a lot of time at your desk and might be a multi-tasker, you will come across as someone who is not good at time management and ends up doing too many things at a time. There may be a pattern to your chaos, but you spend more time searching for important papers than really working. Freeing up all that clutter might just free up your mind.
Mr Mc Clean:
Your desk is painfully clean and well-organized, which can only mean, so is your working style. A clutter-free work space not only helps you feel like you are more in control of things, it also increases your productivity. Your controlled work environment also gives people the impression that you are punctual and sincere too... even if you are not!
The Go-getter:
Important targets jotted on post-it notes, graphs, deadlines and time-tables - if your work space is full of these, you can come across as the ambitious worker who is very goal-oriented. It makes you the no-nonsense employee who comes to office to do just one thing - work.
Fun junkie:
If you love to have a good time outside of work and fill your life with fun experiences, your desk might just be betraying your next holiday plans or your gastronomic weaknesses. Postcards from vacation destinations you've been to (or want to head to!), take-away menus of your preferred eatery, posters of your favorite movie stars or wallpapers of the soccer team you live for - you can't send out a louder message of your likes and dislikes than through your desk. While this may make you seem like a very interesting person, you could also be sending out the signal - My job is just something I do between everything that is fun.
Family guy:
If every member of your family, including your pet iguana, has earned himself a framed photograph on your desk, it just makes you the 'people's person'. Your desk reveals that you are a compassionate and humane person whose heart is in the right place.
