If your boss is a lady
Mind our P's and Q's if you have a lady boss.
Read the cues: She's good at reading facial cue. When it comes to facial cue recognition, women test better. It's a negotiation tool. Women listen and talk more, men talk less and are more direct. Women are better at details, men are about the big picture. Women research, then go for it, men trust their gut and go for it.
Mind over matter:
Look into her eye and address her directly. Any kind of clumsiness, lowering of eyes, or overt behaviour will be seen by her as non-acceptance of her superiority. Shake hands with her firmly. Respond when there's a slight tilt of the head. That means she's asking you to go ahead with your briefings.
Don't sex it up:
Compliment her if she's really looking nice, the way you would appreciate a Saville Row suit on a male boss. If she's sexy, please, please address her face and no her cleavage! When a man talks dirty to a woman, its sexual harassment. When a woman talks dirty to a man, it's $3.95 per minute!
After-office woes:
Since time immemorial, man has been known to bond over drinks after work, while the woman rushes to her home and family. But with changing times, the new age woman is rubbing shoulders with her male counterparts, clinking her champagne chute as good as those bozos. But it's always better to have a certain restraint for an official party or after office get-together. Let her know about that after office drink and dinner. Give her the true picture, i.e. if your spouses are attending, if it's only a beer guzzling do, etc.
Emotional quotient:
Female tear glands are 60 per cent larger than male tear glands, so women are going to tend to cry more. Gear up for that! Studies conducted at Yale and Northwestern Universities found that women who have angry outbursts in the workplace are perceived as having less power, status, and competence than men who get angry.
