Commonly used abbrevations in Prescriptions:

STAT - Start immediately

O.M. - Omnie mene (morning only)

O.D. - Omnie die (daily only)

B.D. - Bis die (daily twice)

T.D.S. - Ter die sumendus(thrice daily)

Q.D.S. - Quarter die sumendus (four times daily)

Q.Q.H. -Quarta quaque hara (every four hours)

A.C./B.- Ante cibum (before food)

P.R.N. -Pro re neta (when required)

S.O.S -Only when acute pain

H.S. -One at night.
