Colourful Streamers

A simple way to make shining, colourful streamers for Birthday parties and other functions!

The things you need:

1. Sheets of thin, coloured paper
2. Scissors

Step 1: Make three folds in the paper as shown in the figure.

Step 2: Make slits at regular intervals all along the length of the paper (L1) without cutting the opposite length (L2).

Step 3: Now repeat the same procedure making slits from L2 towards L1. Again, be sure that L1 does not get cut.

Gently open the pattern. A broad streamer will flow before your eyes.

If you want to make thin streamers then just make a single fold. More the folds, broader the streamer.

Sock Doll

Line up a few of these dolls on a windowsill or mantel, and you're guaranteed to spread cheer to family

The things you need:

1. Cotton socks
2. Pieces of foam
3. A few rubber bands
4. Red and black paint
5. Scissors

Step 1: Fill a cotton sock three quarters of the way with the foam pieces. Secure it by tying a rubber band at the end of the filling.

Step 2: Cut the remaining part of the sock with a scissors into long strips and turn these inside out.

Step 3: Now for the doll's nose - with your fingertips, grasp a small amount of foam halfway down from the top of the sock. Wrap a rubber band around the base to secure it. The doll has a long nose now.

Step 4: Make the eyes and mouth with black and red paint.

For a family of dolls, use baby socks to make children and adult socks for parents. Or, if you want to show a family in which the children tower over their parents, then do it the other way round! So are you ready to show off your dolls to your friends?

Cone Caps!!!.

Whether it's your birthday party or your grandfather's, it's an ideal occasion to make the conical caps at home. Making them can be more exciting than buying them.

The things you need:

1. Chart paper (12 inches x 18 inches)
2. Glue
3. Scissors
4. Glitter glue
5. Cotton ball
6. Ribbon
7. Pencil

Step 1: Use the 12 inch side of the chart paper as the height and the 18 inch side as the base. Draw a wide triangle to get the cone shape.

Step 2: Round the base as shown in the figure. Cut out the triangle.

Step 3: Decorate the caps with glitter glue. If you do not have glitter glue then you can do spray painting or stick cutouts from old greeting cards.

Step 4: Put a line of glue on one side of the triangle. Roll it in a cone shape. Stick the cotton ball on top of the cone.

Step 5: Make two holes on the opposite ends at the base of the cap. Tie ribbons two each of the holes.

Make caps of different colours for all the friends you are planning to invite at your party.

Decorate Bindis

Look for old bindis lying in your house and give them a new look.

The things you need:

1. Plain bindis of different colours and sizes
2. Tiny beads of different colours
3. Adhesive

Step 1: Since bindis are small, you will have to decorate them very carefully. Choose the beads that go with the colour of the bindi and stick them in a way that they look attractive.

Step 2: You can also take a smaller bindi and stick it on top of the bigger one. This will give you two layers. Then, decorate it with beads.

Prepare a few bindis in different shapes, sizes and colours to match different clothes.

Pencil stand of Bangles

If you have old bangles lying around in the house that nobody wears, you can use them to make a pencil stand for your desk.

The things you need:

1. Old bangles
2. Adhesive
3. Cardboard
4. Scissors
5. Pencil

Step 1: Collect bangles of different colours but of the same size.

Step 2: Use a bangle to draw a circle on the cardboard piece. Cut it.

Step 3: Now stick one bangle on top of the other using the circular cardboard as the base for your pencil stand.

Stick the bangles till you get a height of four inches. That is it. There is no need to paint or decorate. It will be the most colourful pencil stand that you will have.

Instant Bunny

Fine towel material or flannel is is best for making bunny rabbits. However, you can use any cloth. Here we have used a handkerchief.

The things you need:

1. Handkerchief
2. Rubber band
3. Three black and one red bindi or buttons

Step 1: Take a handkerchief and start rolling it diagonally from one end.

Step 2: Once completely rolled, fold into half and tie a rubber band two inches from the fold.

Do you know what you have just made is a bunny rabbit? Well, there is one little thing that the bunny needs - his features.

Step 3: Stick the two black bindis for the eyes and the third one for the nose. Now cut the red bindi into a half moon shape and stick it to make the bunny's mouth. If you do not have bindis, use buttons.

Your bunny is ready to hop, skip and jump!
