Get the Look Dewy, Fresh Skin

Get the look
Make-up expert Ambika Pillai explains how you can get flawless-looking skin. Start with a good moisturiser. Your skin needs to look nourished and healthy, so don’t miss this step. Wait for two or three minutes for the moisturiser to get absorbed into your skin and then begin your make-up. Next step is the primer, which will serve as a base for the foundation and create an illusion of smooth skin with reduced fine lines and pores. A primer with light reflecting properties is preferred, as it will help camouflage the fine lines better. If you have sensitive skin or are prone to acne, use an oil-free primer. Depending on your skin type, choose between a liquid or creamy foundation to get that lovely, glowing, even skin tone. If needed, use a concealer for spot correction. Use a highlighter —both creamy and powder will work, so select depending on your skin type — on your cheekbones and the bridge of your nose to contour your face and accentuate your features. Skip the pink and peach blushes, and give your cheeks a sculpted look with a deep bronze instead. Finish with a light dusting of translucent powder to seal the make-up.

Adapt the look
Who doesn’t want fresh, glowing skin all the time? You can wear this look anywhere and anytime, with a few minor tweaks.

For the day
Choose your highlighter with care. For a natural day look, your highlighter should be a shade lighter than your skin tone, says Pillai. Go for glossy pink or peach for your lips. Matte nudes and nude pinks work well for the eyes. Softly tease your hair and wear in a twist ponytail style.

For the night
For the evening, you can use a highlighter with a metallic sheen. But avoid using too much, as it can end up looking greasy. Glossy pinks, peaches, deep red, nude or fuchsia work well for this look. A matte nude pink highlighter, used on the brow with a bit of a metallic sheen, is perfect for the eyes. Pull your hair into a low bun or in a soft bouffant to complete the look.

Expert tip: You don’t want to end up with shine instead of dew, so be sure to apply translucent powder once you are done. Also, don’t use the highlighter all over your face.

At-home care
A regular cleansing-toning-moisturising routine is essential to get that lovely plumped-up skin naturally. Use these nourishing treatments for some additional skin pampering.

Scrub: Mix ground almonds, yoghurt and dried and powdered orange peel. Rub on your face in gentle, circular motions. Wash off. Weekly applications will give you the fresh, youthful skin you are looking for, says Shahnaz Husain, beauty expert.

Mask: Make a pack of one egg yolk, half a teaspoon of honey and one teaspoon of milk powder. Remove after 20 minutes with water. You could use it once or twice a week.

Thanks for the great tips. Pampering for me will be getting a nice aroma facial and then a nice long day at the spa. For the facial, I use Parachute's new summer variant. it is fresh and young.
