Health Benefits of Night Walk - Walking after meals(After Dinner)

So, walking after a meal is recommended. But first thing is that how much you should wait after dinner to start your night walk :

• Walking immediately after eating is wrong. Because the digestive system need more blood to help digest the food you ate. If you walk instantly, the blood will goes to other organs, this is not good for digestion and absorption, and some people may feel like vomiting & dizzy.

• Before walking, you have to give at least twenty minute to go on the night walk (or even more time, it depends on the person and what you have eaten) to let the digestive system digest the food and absorb the nutrition you intake. After this short rest, you can go for at least twenty minute light walking. This is the healthy way to walk after eating.

Benefits of Night Walk

• Taking a walk in the evening after dinner is a great 2-part step to weight loss. First, it has all the benefits of a normal walk, taken at any time of day. Second, it helps start digestion of the big dinner you just ate.

• Getting a jump on digestion will help continue that process through the night, burning more calories and shedding pounds faster.

• Decreases depression

• Helps to increase muscular strength

• Eases lower back pain

• Helps reduce hypertension and high blood pressure

• Increases good (HDL) cholesterol

• Helps decrease body fat

• Helps maintain and increase bone density

• Reduces the risk of Type II diabetes

• Increases one’s metabolism

• Increases the immune system

Thanks Viji.

Yeah....I mean the night walk only, ie., after the dinner.

This is good, because, the food we have taken and the calories acquired due to that can be burnt by this night walk.

Even at night 10'clock, we can go for the night walk.

Good question about the chasing street dogs.....for this, either we can take a stick or stone in our hand. We need not throw on them. Just pretend to throw, and they will not chase you. This is my personal experience also.

We need not go for walk only in the streets. We can also walk on the terrace of our house or building also. there we may not have the dog menace.

We may also do walking in the treadmill .

Hi jayanthy,

I am not convinced of your explanation There is lot of difference between a
walk and a stroll.

To get the health benefits from walking, it needs to be of moderate-intensity aerobic activity. In other words, it needs to be faster than a stroll.

Moderate-intensity aerobic activity means you're walking fast enough to raise your heart rate and break a sweat. One way to tell is that you'll be able to talk, but not sing the words to your favourite song.

According to me night walk is not safe (Dog,Man and vehicles). It is better to take a morning or evening walk in a park or sport place where women feel safe and happy and at the same time walk fast for a long distance to get the good health .

Jayanthy, please no hard feeling this is only exchange of views

Have a great day.

What you have told is cent percent true Viji. i totally agree with you.

Nowadays, it is not at all safe to go for a walk even in the early morning(which I was doing regularly some 10 years back....I used to go at 4.30 in the morning).Later I stopped this habit due to lack of safety.

That's why, I have told in my earlier post, that we can walk in our terrace or in a treadmill also.

Nowadays, I am walking only in the treadmill, both in the early morning and in the night after food.

That's why I mentioned it.

Also, nowadays, in some Apartments, they do have walking paths inside the secured gates, where they can go for walk.

And for elderly people, they may get sleep, if they go for a night walk, in whose case, they cannot have a brisk walk.I found this was helpful for my FIL and MIL.

That's why I have told these things.

I have not at all given the counter talks for yours.

You are always my dear friend and I will never try to hurt anyone of my friends like you.:)
