The onset of summers is usually accompanied by rising temperatures, immense heat, humidity and the various ailments associated with skin. One of the most common of these is prickly heat which causes lot of inconvenience to us and is almost always leads to itching and Redness on the Skin. If left untreated it might lead to serious Skin allergies.
Following are some of the most common natural remedies and tips to deal with prickly heat during summers.
=> People who have a tendency to sweat too much, must opt to wear loose clothes, preferably cotton clothes so as to keep the flow of air and avoid sweat.
=> Care must be taken to keep the skin free from sweat and moisture. This could be done by using a good herbal prickly heat talcum Powder . Use it for at least 3-4 times a day. It would give one a cooling effect.
=> Taking care of hygiene by taking bath at least twice a day would help to fight the germs and bacteria that leads to itching and redness.
=> A homemade paste of gram flour (besan) mixed with a little turmeric and rose water when applied to the affected area gives relief and cools down the rashes and prickly heat.
=> One can also apply a little amount of Fuller's earth(multani mitti) mixed with rose water on the affected area to get relief from prickly heat. The Fuller's earth have a property to absorb oils and toxin from the skin thereby keeping it very cool and refreshing.
=> The main reason for prickly heat and rashes is the rising temperatures and heat around hence it is important to keep the affected area cool. For this apply an ice pack on the area for 10 minutes every hour.
=> One can apply some fresh aloe -vera pulp on the skin having prickly heat and rashes. The medicinal properties of aloe-vera would help to heal quickly. Alternately one can apply a readymade aloe-vera gel also.
=> One can take some neem leaves and boil them, then this water can be applied directly to the affected area to give relief from prickly heat.
=> A paste of grinded neem leaves when applied to the prickly heat also helps to relieve the itching and redness on the skin.
=> Also it advised that during summers, if one adds little neem leaves to the bathing water then it prevents the prickly heat.
=> A little bit of boric powder can also be added to the bathing water to give relief from prickly heat.
=> One very uncommon but very effective remedy is to add a bit of finely grounded oatmeal powder to the bathing water. Taking bath twice daily with this water would definitely give relief from the itching and redness of the skin.
=> Add 1 tsp of baking soda to a cup of water and apply to the prickly heat area it will give relief.
=> One may also apply a paste of sandalwood in rose water to the affected area and feel the Itchiness subside.
=> One may also apply cucumber gel or juice to the area to reduce redness and cool the area.
=> The other important thing is to increase the water intake in the body. For this one may take juices, squashes, buttermilk and just regular water to keep the body hydrated and also to decrease the body temperature.
