Dear Rekha,

Congrats to your friend on becoming a mother, a blessing that only we female get to.
Sweating smell is quiet natural, and shortly after bathing it does resume. 3 months old baby means, she must be breast feeding, and if protocols are not followed, it smells badly.
  1. Before and after feeding she will have to clean the nipples with cotton dipped in lukewarm water.
  2. Avoid soaps with strong chemicals, instead use a homemade pack like moong dal/basin/ along with Vasmbu or Acorus Calamus. The dried rhizomes of acorus calamus are generally available at the herbal medical shops. Soak them over night, also soak the Kasthuri manjal overnight. A paste of both along with the moong/basen is the best remedy for body odours.
  3. If it still does not help her consult a dermatologist, or her own gynecologist, she might be having some sweat gland infections.
  4. Soak a teaspoon of black seeds overnight, consume them first thing in the morning. This cleanses the postpartum uterus, and detoxifies it.
  5. Along the side ask her to consume plenty of fluid, like fresh fruit juices, home made soups, and water. These not only cleanse the system, but also replace and support good lactation.
Wishing your friend a happy and safe motherhood!

Dear Rekha, convey our congratulations to your friend.
Normally you may notice that young kids have short neck and lots of fat, so food and sweat can be trapped in the folds ans start to have odor. A bath will be curing the bad odor problem.
Babies have a sour smell if they have spit up or have sweat or dirt trapped somewhere on their bodies. However some particular aromas on your child's body are cause for concern, as they indicate some disorders that are preventing your baby from processing certain chemicals in the body properly.
Please referIs it normal for my baby to have body odor? | BabyCenter for various smells and connected possible diseases. This problem may have to be immediately referred to the children's specialist.

All the best. thank you
