[TD] Make Drinking Eight Glasses of Water a Day a Habit That's Easy to Keep

Health experts tell us to drink lots of water but that's not always easy to do. We have lives that keep us busy and often miss out on drinking water.

Try putting eight-ounce bottles of water in your fridge. Don't fill to the top as you want to allow room for ice to thaw. Grab a frozen bottle of water as you leave your house in the morning and keep it in your car.

[TD="colspan: 3, align: left"] When you get back to the car, chances are it will be nicely thawed and cold to drink. Another idea is to wrap it in a towel and carry it in your briefcase or handbag. Take it with you to the office or wherever you go. You can refill the bottles and always keep some frozen in your fridge, ready to go.

Staying hydrated is a must to ensure endurance, coordination and safety during exercise. Don't wait until you're thirsty to drink. To prevent dehydration, drink plenty of water before, during, and after exercise.

If exercising aerobically for longer than 45 minutes, you may want to include a sports drink (Gatorade® et al) containing 6-8% carbohydrate to improve performance and enhance fat-burning. Try following the guidelines below:

Drink 8-16 ounces of water 30-60 minutes before exercise.
Drink 4-10 ounces of fluid every 15 minutes during your workout.
Drink 8-16 ounces of water after exercise.
