Floral Nail Art
For these tutorials, USe Sally Hansen Extreme Wear in Lacey Lilac, Deep Purple and Mint Sorbet.

[h=2]Tips & tricks[/h]
  • Don't have a dotting tool? No problem!! Try to use with the head of a bobby pin.
  • Don't be afraid to mix up your color combos.
  • For a simpler version of the mod floral nail art, skip the lighter dots and just do a center dot.
  • For the lines on the roses, I suggest a fine brush but a toothpick will work in a pinch.
  • If you really hate hand painting, try some rhinestones!

Nail Taping

taping_tutorial.jpg

Tips & tricks

  • Use a darker polish for your second color to ensure full coverage with just one coat.
  • Remove the tape when your polish is still wet. If you leave it too long, your second color won't come off smoothly.
  • Make sure your base coat is completely dry or it will come off with the tape.
  • Make the pieces long enough that they hang off the edge of your nail. This makes them easier to peel off quickly.
  • You can do as many colors as you like! Wait until it's dry and try a different shape on top!

Polka dot nails

polka-dot-nails-tutorial.jpg
[h=2]Tips & tricks[/h]
  • Wait until your first layer of dots dries until you add the next layer. The colors can bleed together and starting over is SO annoying!
  • Try to add your second dot right in the center of the first. It helps give the optical illusion more POP!
  • Your nails might be a bit bumpy from all the dots, so you might want to add a second layer of top coat.
  • Don't be afraid to overlap your dots.
  • Fill in empty space with dots of different sizes to help create interest.

Pastel nails

[h=2]Tips & tricks[/h]
  • Be careful when you're adding the green. If you put too much over the purple it can end up looking muddy.
  • Always use a make-up sponge, not a kitchen sponge!
  • To clean up our cuticles, just dip a stiff, wide brush in acetone (a Q-tip works, too) and wipe away extra polish.
  • Prefer a video? No problem! Here you go..

Gradient nails

gradient-nails-tutorial.jpg
[h=2]Tips & tricks[/h]
  • If your sponge is absorbing too much polish, get it wet, wring it out and then paint on your polish.
  • Try to hold your sponge parallel with the nails and sponge in an up and down motion.
  • This look works better with colors that compliment each other. If you try it with orange and green they might just blend into a mud color!
  • The color you want at the base of the nail should be the first line on the sponge.
  • For clean up, Use pure acetone and an angle brush, just make sure you follow up with cuticle oil as acetone is very drying.
