Ovarian cyst is a sac filled with fluid which is surrounded by a very thin wall within the ovary. If the ovarian follicle is larger than 2 cm, it is called as ovarian cyst.

2. Corpus luteum cyst
3. Hemorrhagic cyst
4. Dermoid cyst

Facts about ovarian cysts

Causes of ovarian cyst

1. There is no known cause for ovarian cysts

2. Ovarian cyst may occur during ovulation. Follicle that grows during ovulation may not break open and release the egg. The fluid stays in the follicle causing the cyst.

3. Cysts may form due to hormone related conditions such as polycystic ovary

1. Ovarian cyst causes a lot of pain when it is twisted, or there is a ruptured ovarian cyst
