PMS mood swings a myth, new study says

Premenstrual syndrome in women has been over-estimated and may not be the cause of their bad moods at certain times of the month, says a new study.
Researchers have suggested that symptoms such as irritability are often unfairly blamed on a woman's period when other factors such as stress or a lack of support may be to blame, the Daily Mail reported.

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS), also called PMT or premenstrual tension, is a collection of physical and emotional symptoms believed to be related to a woman's menstrual cycle.

Researchers from University of Toronto assessed a number of studies relating to PMS. They concluded that the studies "failed to provide clear evidence in support of the existence of a specific premenstrual negative mood syndrome".
