Following are some health benefits of raisins:

Constipation: This is an age-old home remedy for treating constipation. Soak handful of raisins in a glass of water for about 24 – 48 hours. Drink this water in the morning on an empty stomach. This helps in regular bowel movement.

Acidosis: Acidosis can be defined as an increase in acidity in blood or gases in respiratory system. This is a dangerous condition because it gives rise to many health problems such as cancer, tumors, heart diseases, hair loss, renal calculi, gout, arthritis, damage to internal organs, skin diseases and boils. Raisins are rich in magnesium and potassium. These are effective in reducing acidity. These minerals neutralize acids and hence check acidosis.

Weight gain: Like other dry fruits, raisins are excellent food for gaining weight because they are rich sources of glucose, fructose and also give energy. Hence, they form an ideal diet for body builders or athletes who need to put on weight or need energy. Also, it is rich in minerals, amino acids and vitamins.

Fever: Phenolic phytonutrients are known for their antioxidant, germicidal and antibiotic properties. These are present in abundance in raisins. These help to cure fever by combating bacterial and viral infections.

Anemia: Raisins have good amount of iron that treats anemia directly. Also, they contain several members of vitamin B complex that are essential for blood formation. Also, copper present in them aids in red blood cells formation.

Raisins stimulate libido because of the presence of amino acids. People with sexual weakness are advised to drink a glass of milk boiled with raisins and added with a pinch of saffron.

Eye care: Raisins have phytonutrients and polyphenolic that are similar to anti-oxidants. They protect eyes from the damage caused by free radicals.
