Moong Dhal flour- 1 cup
Ragi flour/Millet flour- 1/4Th cup
Jowar Flour/White Corn Flour- 1/4Th cup
Cashews - (optional) powder- 1/4Th cup
Almond- (optional) powder- 1/4Th cup
Whole wheat flour- 1/4Th cup
Parboiled rice flour- 1/4Th cup (used brown rice four)
Roasted Channa Dhal flour- 1/4Th cup
Sago flour- 1/4Th cup
Barley flour- 1/4Th cup
Elachi- a few pods
Yellow Corn/Maize flour - 1/4th cup

For Making Porridge/Kangi

Mavu/Flour- 1/2 cup
Water - 2 cups
Sugar - 3 tsp (optional)
Milk - 1 cup or less


. Dry roast each of the ingredients separately and make a powder of each of these ingredients. Mix and store.

2. Take 1/2 cup of the flour and mix it with 2 cups of cold water until all the clumps dissolve.

3. Put it on the stove on medium high and cook it while constantly stirring it.

4. In 2 to 3 minutes the liquid will start to thicken and boil. Turn off the heat.

5. Add sugar and milk and mix well.

6. Serve it hot.

Note: This flour can be made into a small treat for kids and adults. Mix some of the above flour, sugar, ghee and a little milk to make into balls for snack.

Ingredients


Sathumaavu


Raw Rice - 100 gm
Puttarasi - 100 gm
Pottukadalai ( fried gram ) - 100 gm
Urad dal - 100 gm
Javvarisi ( sago ) - 50 gm
Green gram - 100 gm
Kollu ( horse gram ) - 50 gm
Ragi - 200 gm
Kambu ( pearl millet ) - 100 gm
Jowar - 100 gm
Corn - 100 gm
Soya - 100 gm
Barley - 100 gm
Badam - 50 gm
Cashew - 50 gm
Peanuts - 100 gm
Samba Godhumai ( samba wheat ) - 200 gm
Green gram dal - 100 gm
Cardamom - 25 gm


Kanji


Sathumaavu - 1 tsp
Milk - 1 cup
Sugar - as needed


Method


Sathumaavu


1.Soak urad dal, green gram, kollu, ragi, kambu, jowar, soya,samba godhumai in water overnight.
2.Soak corn separately in water, overnight.
3.Drain water and tie the grains in a wet cloth.
4.The grains would have sprouted.
5.Spread them on a cloth and dry in the shade.
6.Heat a frying pan.
7.Add grains little by little, fry and set aside.
8.Fry rice, puttarisi, pottukadalai, javvarisi, badam, cashew, peanuts, green gram dal.


Kanji


9.Powder the items with barley, cardamom.
10.Boil a cup of milk.
11.Add sathamaavu, stir and boil for 2 minutes.
12.Add sugar and drink.
