Teen Beauty Treatments

Beauty treatments aren't just reserved for older women. Teens can and should get in on the action too. For shiny hair and silky skin, start off with the simple beauty treatments anyone can do, like drinking water and getting enough rest. The earlier you begin to take care of your skin, the better it will be in the long run.

Start off by drinking plenty of water, preferably at least eight 8-oz. glasses a day. You also need plenty of rest to keep your skin, as well as your body, healthy. Avoiding stress means avoiding pimples, so keep stress levels at a minimum. Never pop pimples if you do have them. Popping may cause permanent scarring. Protect your skin from the sun by using a sunscreen, especially for those involved in outdoor sports. Tanning may seem like a good idea now, but it prematurely ages your skin.

For silky skin, head to your local beauty shop for a facial or you can do your own banana honey face mask. Combine half a banana (mashed) with 1 tbsp. of honey and 2 tbsp. of sour cream. Apply it to the face and leave on for 10 minutes. Gently wipe away with a damp cloth.

If you're involved in sports or just have oily hair, be sure to wash and condition your hair regularly to eliminate build up. If you have naturally dry hair or your hair is color treated, the hair may have lost some of its shine. Along with washing with a moisturizing shampoo, use a separate conditioner (leave in or wash out) to combat dryness and to restore your hair's natural shine. Dry hair needs to be washed less frequently because it does not have dirt buildup like oily hair. Once or twice a week should suffice.

Hands & Nails

Whether texting, working on the computer or doing school work, your hands are constantly in motion. Keep nails short but manicured and keep hands moisturized. Use a hand cream at night. Work it into the hands and nails. For extra silkiness, wear gloves in the evening to trap in the moisture. Remove the gloves the next morning and you're ready to go.

Other Treatments

Include a regular exercise routine. Sports are one option to keep your body in shape, or if you prefer, get some cardio at home with a treadmill or an exercise bike. The old adage, "you are what you eat" rings true. Stay healthy by eating healthy. Junk food promotes pimples, while fruits and veggies help keep skin and hair shiny and healthy.
