Vaginal bleeding in early pregnancy term is considered as threatened miscarriage. In medical terms, a miscarriage is also referred to as a spontaneous abortion. Vaginal bleeding is common in early pregnancy, which occurs during first few months. Most of women stop bleeding and have a normal pregnancy, while complications increase for some. Cervical os remains open in case miscarriage remains incomplete; as a consequence pregnancy is expelled.

In order to treat this condition, cervical os, i.e, mouth of the womb is closed. A pelvic exam is conducted to determine if cervical os is open. In this condition, womb and fallopian tubes may become tender. On the brink of miscarriage, bleeding becomes heavier, abdominal pain increases and body starts to cramp.
