1. Crash diet DO NOT work for every body! You just usually end up weaker in the long run or giving up altogether because the diet doesn’t seem to be working. You might shed some pounds off after a week of not eating, but trust me, you will be tempted to eat and once you do you’ll be on a binge fest as if you just came from a gulf war!

2. Avoid drinking soft drinks, try and drink fruit cordials instead. Although fruit cordials aren’t that healthy either because there’s sugar in it, it’s a much better option than soft drinks because fruit cordials at least have water in them.

3. When you make a sandwich, try and avoid butter or full-fat mayonnaise. Most sandwiches you see around will have these ingredients, even though you have a healthy salad or a tuna sandwich, if there’s mayonnaise or butter in it you’re defeating the purpose.

4. If you’re craving for something naughty like chocolate or your favourite cake, have smaller servings. It’s better to have a binge day once a week so that you don’t crave it too much, otherwise you’ll just end up overeating in the end.

5. Drink skimmed milk as opposed to whole milk or semi-skimmed milk. It can make a difference in your diet.

6. Cut down on alcohol. It’s okay to drink socially occasionally, but if you want to lose weight then you should try and avoid excessive consumption of alcohol and beer.

7. Avoid rounds two or three during dinner. Keep in mind that you should be eating less during dinner because your body isn’t as active as it is in daytime so you can’t lose the fat you acquired from dinner. Try and drink more water than usual to fill you up.

8. Try and not have sugar on your coffee, the less sugar the better.

9. Don’t be tempted to skip meals, whilst skipping meals make you lose pounds, it will leave you more starving later and will eventually drive you to binge eating so eventually you would have eaten much more due to rebound overeating. Lopsided eating habits upset your body’s metabolism, which will make it even harder for you to lose weight anyway.

10. Try and cut down on eating sweets such as chocolate, candies, sugary biscuits and crisps between meals.
