Consumption of tobacco is very harmful in any shape like smoking or chewing etc. If we think smokeless tobacco is harmless then this is wrong. As it can be cause of cancer of mouth, tongue, lips and throat. As tobacco contains nicotine that can reach in brain within 10 seconds which cause feeling of immediate relaxation.

Using tobacco is harmful not only to your health but also to your neighbor. I feel drinking alcohol is better than using tobacco as drinking is harmful only for your health but not to your neighbor.

The main reason of some many diseases and problems in our country is smoking only. As our population is very high and there are no restrictions for public smoking really it is creating lot of problems. Our Government is doing a good job in discouraging smoking by increasing tax in every budget.Even then many are not getting rid of this habit.

There are various methods by which a person can stop using tobacco but believe me, it is not possible for a normal human being.

The best way to stop this habit is to say "NO" to tobacco completely.

Self-restraint is the best practice to stop the consumption of tobacco. It is a vicious trap in which the victim finds it impossible to get out.

However, I can suggest some ways by which you can reduce your habit though it is extremely difficult to stop it completely:

i) It is impossible to stop using tobacco altogether. Also it is very foolish to do so as it can lead to depression and various physical damage.

Take a pledge to reduce your consumption per day. For example- if you are in a habit of smoking four times a day or more, make it three or two times a day. It will be uncomfortable to you in the beginning but you will soon get adapted to the change.

ii) Keep some bitter things in your pocket like Neem twigs and leaves and chew them whenever you have an intense desire of smoking. It shall be beneficial to you as well as your health.

iii) Think of the final consequences like lung cancer before smoking. It will de-motivate as well as discourage you. You can also visit a cancer hospital and see the plight of the patients who have been smoking. It will help you to think a thousand times before smoking.

iv) Consult a physician and seek his advice. He can give you certain drugs. However, you need a very strong will for the medicines to work effectively.

v) Lastly, prevent yourself from buying these stuffs. You can give the money to a beggar or save it when you intend to buy them.

vii) You no how much you spend on each smoke. When ever you feel like having a smoke take out the money equivalent to the cost of that smoke and put it in a sealed tin. After a week you count the money. You will be shocked to know how much you are ashing in your smoking. This will help you in coming out of this habit.
